Somebody was bored and carved stone jars out of boulders all his life. It is now a tourist attraction.

Coffee grown 'as im sure you know' around the bolaven plateau. I spent a couple of nights in Pakxan a couple of years ago and watched it being made in a village a couple of klms out.
I thought it was some kind of hillbilly set up making whisky. The grind and roasting of the bean was primitive to say the least.
I travelled from Vientienne about 150 klms south.
Pakxan itself resmbles a soviet block town, very dull. Small market selling cheap plastic crap. 4-5 G/houses.
Be aware there are still uxb's going of in this area. Moreso than anywhere in Laos.
