    3 days in Chiang Rai with a pool.

    So, we decided on a bit of a break after all the stresses and strains of the house build.

    It's bloody hot so a couple of days by a pool seemed like a good idea.

    We only live 2 hours from Chiang Rai and shop there quite often. When overnighting we normally stay in a guest house for a cheap and cheerful 400 baht.

    All good and very convenient but no pool.

    A bit of a search on Thailand Hotels Bangkok,Phuket Hotels Discount Hotel in Thailand for the best pool in CR and we got this place;

    It's in the center of town, a 3 minute walk from the night bazaar and has a huge pool.

    Cost about 1800 a night for a deluxe room. Buffet breky included.

    The room was pretty standard really, but OK. The bed was great.

    not much of a view really.

    We were on the 4th floor. It has 6 but we were advised that it was bloody hot on 5 and 6.

    A bit off putting really. It's got to be said that the place could do with some refurbishment. I doubt I'd stay there again.

    The pool is down there. A good size and 2.2m at the deep end.

    A crappy photo and the only one I'm afraid.

    You can see more on the hotels website.

    On a more positive note, the staff were really friendly.

    More on Chiang Rain and the Night Bazaar in a bit.

    I stayed in a very nice hotel in CR with a magnificent pool in beautiful gardens.

    It was cheap too, but about 15 minutes south of the city centre....can't remember the name though...hang on...

    That looks nice. I just don't understand why the have such vast expanses of concrete. A few trees or shrubs would be nice. I'll check this place out Thety. Cheers.

    Anyway, onto the Night Bazaar.

    Not a bad place for some food, beer and browsing. You can get some decent bargains, particularly if you're Thai and come from the area. Watching tourists getting ripped right royally can be entertaining.

    The entrance;

    Stuff for sale;

    This enterprising bloke makes things out of cans

    A fortune teller, who probably won't tell you you're about to get ripped off.

    Plus there's loads of local arty stuff, clothes, elephants and junk.

    Onto food in a bit.

    Besides shopping for stuff, at the center of the bazaar is the eating area.

    Basically a bunch of tables and chairs surrounded by kiosks selling a pretty good variety of food.

    A few beer kiosks and, at the fair end stage providing entertainment of one sort or another. Some times quite good.

    Things normally get going around 18.00 - 19.00. It was a pretty quiet night last Sunday.

    Some food kiosks.

    Indeed. Picked up by about 9 though.

    I've been there on occasion and there've been no seats available at all.
