It is a bit of a back water mate. Most of the "attractions" are miles away. Couple of half decent eateries, a Big C and a Macro.

    Not a lot else.

Yup, but if you're feeling really daring you could go to Macro.

CR has got a bit of night life and a few bars down a back alley, so to speak.

The night bazarre is good if you like tourists.....

Agreed, but there are some nice spots within a 2-3 hour drive. CR makes a reasonable base for exploring the area.

I can see why the internet and porn has taken off in such a big way with places like Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai always means the city itself to me. I get confused otherwise.

A nice road trip, particularly by bike, is CR up to CK then back via the mountain route. A good day trip.

The white temple - Wat Rong Khun - is great on a full moon night. All the silver pieces shine [ far out & groovy ]

The same guy designed the new clock tower in CR town

Hmmm. If it ever happens. It's going in about 5-7 km down river from Chiang Kong, alledgedly. Certainly the police and local pollies have bought up all the land round there. CK will become a ghost town if it does go in.
