Good guest house in Chiang Rai.

We visit CR once a month and always stay at the Orchid Guest House. It's clean friendly and helpful. On a whim, we're thinking of going down there for New Year. The Orchid is booked up.

Anybody got any suggestions for a good, clean, central guest house. Lets say up to 1000 a night given the festive season. Walking distance to the night bazaar.

You're right. They're also a tad out of date.

I know a few people who like to stay at the Top North Guesthouse on the moat. Rooms in the new wing on the top floors go for about 1000B per night and have views of the mountain.

^^^ Nope. Only been there once and can't remember where we stayed. Why not come to Chiang Mai? I found CR to be pretty boring.

I stayed at Boon Bundan when I was there a little over a year ago. They had just finished refinishing the whole place. Some rooms are bigger than others. The one I was in was 600 baht with air con and two single beds. A ten minute walk to the market area.

If you look to the back right of the signs for the guesthouse, this is where I stayed. Very nice room with a living room area/fridge, big bathroom. The newer division is on the right hand side. My friend stayed there, and it was cheaper, but new. The rooms on the left are older, and more run down.

They have a small restaurant area with weird hours. They also have lots of pets.

Anyway, i recon Chaing Rai is a cracking little town and these guys that don't like it must be boring bastards that dont get out enough.

I think Jansom is 600-800. Nothing special.

Rooms at Boon Bundan start at 200 - fan and hot water, no fridge nor tv.
    Quality variable.
