There's a pretty good one opposite the car park exit to Overbrook hospital. Dunno the name tho. It is just set back 100 meters off the main road, so have a butchers at an online map of C Rai. Good location and probably 300 Baht.

Or there is the Tourist Inn hotel near Jet Yod Wat, that also does a lot of excellent bakery. It calls itself an hotel but it ain't really. Dirt cheap, but OK.

    "Tourism down 50%"

Hmm, I wonder what double of "sold out" would be?

JJ, buy a tent and rough it mate. Great fun if you find the right location and as the weather is quite chilly you can snuggle up with your good lady and under the stars.

You certainly have had a fair bit of experience about living off the land as of late and based upon your previous few threads!

Have a good one anyway and I wish you and Joy all the best for 2009.

Thanks all for the info. Having spent the day calling round, emailing etc I've given it up as a bad job. No worries, saves money

Many thanks for that LT. All the best for 2009 to you and yours.

Yep, we could go camping but I've the finest mattress money could buy here and seasonal fortitude in abundance. Might meet up with Nawty for a beverage so all's good with the world. We must meet up some time. All the best.

Too true. I'm not sure they'd be much space with his entourage.

Hooray, room sorted at the Ban Boo for one night. Shopping is on. Then race back for New Years Eve.

Any one fancy a beer in CR tomorrow night?

Third time of asking so no response expected.

Cheers Chili. Yup, got a room there. When we phoned the young girl on reception said they were full, however, a mate went round to check and the boss said there was a room for us

    CR tonight and shopping tomorrow.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

    Place to chill out

The Chat house located in the Soi to the side of Wat Phra Kaew is a very friendly place, family run with the best value breakfast in Crai, 70bt for American Breakfast. Good lunches too, Lannaman can sometimes be found there taking a midday nap on their comfortable couches if he a long break between teaching.
Room are fairly basic, clean and not expensive.
    Strongly recommend it.
