    Thumbs up ChiangRai hotels

I intend to go to Chiang Rai within the next couple of weeks , I know its low season so want to take advantage of good hotel ( single room twin share) for about a week.
Would appreciate any reviews or recommendations for something in the 750 - 1250 bht range . open to options if really good value.
Intending to go from there to Udon Thani next , is there a flight from Chiang rai direct ?
Any info on this Area would be appreciated , ( no I'm not interested in Chang ,no brakes and they won't let me drive - as if !)

You want hotels or would you be happy with a clean, cheap, central, A/C, cabled, free internet, tea and coffee, guest house?

I know it doesn't matter now but we stayed in the Pinnaman Inn and for 600 baht you had A/C, fridge, balcony, breakfast, swimming pool, gym.

Very good value and plenty of others of similar ilk around the area.
