| Bang Pa In | I manage to lose or destroy cell phones pretty often, I've been in los for about 9 months and I think I'm on my 8th phone. I always buy a nokia 2630 for about 2500b. Its a reliable phone from my experience but nice and compact with a decent amount of features. ![]() also available in black ![]() |

| Oh Fuk | oh, you are a one! Buy a phone, get a SIM card, prob from the same store top it up with cash when it runs out, then you keep the same number I know in the States things are very complicated with phones (they wanted me to pay $40 for a SIM card and no free calls included), but in Thailand it is very cheap

| ^I agree the cellular phone market in the US is a racket. They want you to sign up for annual contracts and then nickel and dime you to fucking death. Reception isn't any better than Thailand and it's double the price. But the OP asked about cell phones. I came to Thailand from Los Angeles more than two years ago with a Motorola flip phone I received free (with one year subscription to a provider) in 2005. It's a cheap model with few games, no camera and minimal accessories. Just how I like it. I still have it and it still works fine. If you find a phone in the US that you really like, buy it. But make sure you unlock it before traveling to Thailand. When you get here, buy a new SIM and top it up with as much money as you'll use. The fees are non-existent and the calls are cheap. Quote:
