    Homestay in Pai

Next month the little lady & myself are going to visit Pai for a couple of days. I would like to know if anyone can suggest a good hilltribe homestay

We will do the typical touristy crap, but I would like us to stay w/ a family at night & experience a taste of local life if possible.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

    ^ think of the photos!

What would be better, some older hilltribe woman drying tobacco w/ banana leaves in the sun, or some stoner from Canada w/ fake dreeds, wearing a Marley/Chang t-shirt dancing to trance music high on shrooms at the shitty guesthouse rave?

    I'll let you decide!

    ^ That's what I told her.

    So where do you suggest?

The gf & I want to get away someplace near Chiang Mai for a couple of days, see some hilltribe people, beautiful mountains, rivers & just relax. We've both been to Chiang Rai, so that's not an option.

Get stoned in Pai, then do the Hilltribe thing somewhere between Pai and Mae Hon Son- beautiful drive. Take plenty of photoes with your Russian lens.

The best way to see the inside of hilltribe villages is to sign up for a trek

you get to stay in out-of-the-way villages with no electricity or running water, the people still living the traditional life

ask around (on here?) as some treks are crap, others excellent

you can go from CM or Pai
    I have reported your post

Agreed. I did one about 8 years ago. Really enjoyed it.

Bloody hell that was before I was born. Bustak why not get away from the whole up north thing and drive across to somewhere like Chiang Khan and duck over into Vietianne?
