| Well let's say everywhere I go with offical agencies. Be and stay polite, dress in a good manner, not like the tourist. Behave and wait. They will try you out, sometimes. I have never.. I mean never been treated badly by government people. Many were quite helpfull frankly. ( I hope it will stay this way ) |

| made the trip to Pattaya Immigration on Friday...down n back in one day. nearly completely bug free as predicted. the 1,600.000 baht requirement IS total crap...OFC...as is the passport authentication...however, a foreign marriage certificate IS required to be so by yur embassy/consul. in Pattaya there is a rep. of the Brit Embassy on site tween the hours of 9 and 11am. of course we arrived after those hours. the officer dealing was good enough to phone him for us and he returned to "stamp/sign" the COPY of our wedding paper. kudos and gratitude to him for taking HIS time to do that. asked when this regulation came into being I was informed twas always so. anutha case of a hidden reg. brought back to surface when us "guests" need showing who's boss. my "take" on this is previously we've always had to present the original certificate along with copies...that original being the "authentication"...why not so now is anyone's guess and whether still a requirement alongside an embassy stamped copy likewise. photographs of abodes, all the rooms, house nameplate with inmates painted thereon not mentioned, certainly not by me...heheh waaaay back there was a requirement for me to get evidence from the local plods and a map drawn for them to find it when they came a'visitin' but that's history now...no doubt to be resurrected some day. dunno 'bout local tambon marriages....suspect they be less complex. solely religious marriages which carry no paper evidence?...probly a pic or two would do it...makes sense for a change. thassit then...anutha year gone'n'got....wonder how ah'll feel 'bout all this nausea when I's 70....does'n bear thinkin' about...anyone tell me?...heheh besta luck to all who need it...that'll be alla ya's.....Gurn |

| Just got a one year retirement extension in BKK last week. After hearing all the "new rules", I decided to do a check at the immigration office (Suanplu) the day before my last years extension expired. Sat down with the woman who has been doing my extensions for the last several years and asked her what would be needed for the extension. She looked at my list of "potential" documents and had a good laugh at some of the odd ones I had! Here's what she told me was required and what I used to get the extension: 1. Application form with photo. 2. Passport copies 3. Notorized letter from my Embassy stating I had greater than 65,000 baht income per month 4. Statement from my bank showing past 3 months activity
