Nong Khai Info request

Hello ladies and Gentlemen, I am considering going to Nong Khai late in December 2011 has any one go ANY information on the bar scene.
I have been there a few times but only on day trips from Udon Thani.
I have herd of a bar call the jungle bar but thats just about it.

You have the Danish baker ...thats ok..go around the corner and you have a English owned bar over looking the Mekong ( brendan & Nois which is good to shoot some pool also have free internet ..There is also a few more bars on the same soi but i not know the names...Check out the Vietnamese restaurant right by the maine market food very good in there ..PS if i was you only make your stay a 2 nite one as there is not alot going on in Nong Khai ...

From the local Thai TV news footage today - Mekong is in flood and parts of NK have gone under
All venues mentioned might be a few km's down stream

Oh yes, I definitely do, as I like Nong Khai.

I use to go by bus.



Last time, in February 2011, I slept in The White Inn



I am fond of that hotel, they have nice rooms

the lavoratory is OK,



the room is 800 baht per night.



and, important for the last beer, it is not far away from the bars that I mentionned before.

Nong Khai has a romantic side by night



as well as during the day.



A fountain shows that it is a real town

Then there is the most famous Thasadei Market along the Mekong



So Nong Khai has a touristic side



with restaurants, that offer european food, here the DeeDee

as well as they offer Thai food.



Main important is you get something to eat



and not only to drink - even that is as well very important.

And just off the west end of Tha sadet market.

If he is not sleeping you can also order something in the thasadei - coffee on the westside of the market.
