    Dam Breach

Hi - can anyone shed any light on this for me?

My Mrs. has just come home and told me that a local dam is close to being breached in Thai it is at: มาบกาด

We are in Khonburi an hour south of Khorat this reservoir / dam is about 15K east of us (towards Lahansai) as far as I can tell.

I'm trying to figure out if this is purely speculation from someone in the village or based on fact. Mainly because I've been told this area never floods. I reminded the other half about this and I was told - yeah but the dam has never broken before...

Anyway - if anyone could translate the place name I might be able to find out a bit more about it.

    Thanks in advance.

    ^thanks for that.

all i can see on google maps in terms of big fuck off bodies of water is Khok Krachai Dam. It's about 15K south of us. My Mrs. is adamant that the dam is full and starting to crack.

    Hope this helps alwarner.

The actual name of the dam is เขื่อนมาบกราด. The orange part means dam and the green bit translates into "come on at random" (thanks to google translate).

Copy and paste the Thai into google and it may put you in the right direction.

    Good luck anyways.

    thanks very much bogon.

I was being told earlier that the dam was cracking but now i'm being told the reservoir is pretty full - glad i took the earlier "disaster warning" with a pinch of salt. I'll see if i can find out a bit more - thanks again.
