    cabinets

    Hi all,
Obviously I'm a newby to the TeakDoor, but not to Thailand, After 8 years living here I finally decided to build a house. I am having a problem finding a kitchen cabinet maker. Does anyone know of a good one in the Udon area? Thanks

Thanks Icespike. I checked at Global House and found a better price at Homecare. After the house was completed, I measured for cabinets. I need some sizes that wasn't listed in their book. I emailed the company asking if they could make sizes that were not listed. They said no. Homecare told me all along they could. So, I'm looking for a cabinet man now.

As politely as possible, I'm surprised that anyone who has lived here 8 years would now decide to build a house. Usually that's something you do during those early "star struck" years and later regret. Think it over really well, especially if you're planning to build in Pattaya. Also, whether it's in a Thai wife's name or in the name of some company that could be outlawed in a whim at anytime, you never really own property here.

If you feel up to it you can design your own kitchen and order cabinets, see this thread https://teakdoor.com/construction-in-...llation-2.html (Farang Kitchen Installation)

    Thanks for the advice BobR.
I'm way above the "star struck years". It would take a lot to make me "star struck". I like to think I am a seasoned old fart. America offers me nothing anymore so I'm staying here. I built my house in Nong Khai and my name is on the house and land deed (if that means anything). I built it on land that's been in my wife's family for many years. I (think) I covered all the bases as far as getting my share if something was to go aray. When I leave this world, I don't care who gets it. LOL

Why the grief about Pattaya over and above anywhere else in Thailand?

You may find the answer to your question by reading the Pattaya Daily News. It pretty well says everything about why that is not the chosen destination to live by many. Especially us "seasoned expats".

Thai kitchens are normally made by bricks and they are an easy construction.

With respect anyone who has been in Thailand for 8 years and THEN decides to build I would say has far more idea about what he is doing than most .

Good luck to you mate , to be honest I will be living in the same area within about 3 years , and if I was there now I would hapilly come round and do your kitchen for you for NO charge ,, no I aint a kitchen fitter , I am a lorry driver but have designed and fitted 7 of my own kitchens ,, not the last one but the one before that I hand made it all out of light oak with black iron door furniture ,,, it looked the nuts and sold the house
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

BTW its not too difficult to convert a cabinet to fit the odd size you have left ,, reading your post I guess you have an odd amount left between the last cabinet and the wall ?? you have a couple of options here convert / cut down a cupboard ,, or make a wine / spice / tea towel store from an end panel of the same laminate as your cupboards ,,,,,, just a few ideas
