I am attempting to locate a lost British friend who lives in Nakhon Phanom

I first met Robert Tresoldi in Thailand in 1993 and we became good friends. He has visited me in San Diego, California and would regularly email and telephone. He was especially fond of my mother who recently died at age 95.

My friends and I would see Robert regularly when we took our holiday in Thailand. My brother and sister also really liked Robert and are keenly interested in his well being.

I have not heard from Robert since November of 2010. He has never gone that long without communicating. Robert would also send humorous emails on a regular basis.

Robert retired and moved from Leicester, England to Nakhon Phanom, Thailand about 6 years ago. He married a Thai lady.

I have been trying to contact Robert with no success since November of 2010. I have emailed him 10 times and also sent 2 short letters with my email address inside.

I noticed on google that someone has seen Robert Tresoldi, but I don't know how long ago that was. I then found this teakdoor site.

I will greatly appreciate any help in finding my wonderful friend.

    Thank you,
    Dumbo

    Good luck with your search.

You may want to try these two sites also.

^Yes, but i believe TV doesn't allow personal information to be listed. I tried to locate my cousin who runs a diving company but i was banned for mentioning his name.

    Good luck anyway.

TV is as useless and pathetic as it's idiot censors, but in this case they may be right; look at the OP on this thread, brand new with just 2 posts. He may well be a bill collector, lawyer for an ex spouse or someone else the person named would prefer not to meet.

A more appropriate way is to have Robert contact this person if he wants to, and No, I am not that Robert.

agree, maybe genuine but lots of reasons - and one is simply that of one's personal privacy.

Already this thread comes up on a Google search for his name.

by coincidence started a thread about people 'missing' in Thailand yesterday

    Missing Abroad - in Thailand

some here may remember my heroic efforts at tracking down a man 'lost' in the wilds of Sa Kaeo province around Xmas-time in response to a request on TD, in that case no name was published, even the PM kept to first-name only.

I choose to live a private life; I wouldn't want my name on a public website.

There's a Roberta Tresoldi on Facebook.

    Might explain a few things....

I know John at the Khao San Road - The Gateway to Southeast Asia website has had success with finding missing Farangs.

Thanks for the responses. I am who I said I am, a long-time friend of Robert. After 18 years of knowing him he stopped emailing and telephoning me 6 months ago, and we were always very good friends. My only motive is to locate him.

trouble is, Dumbo, there are a lot of people out there who are not what they say they are

why should we trust you and not them?

I am sure Robert would contact you if he wanted to

The worst may have happened of course, but maybe you should ask the UK embassy about any problems

however, if someone does know him, they should ask him to contact Dumbo immediately, not tell Dumbo where Robert is

    what is your name, Dumbo?
    I have reported your post

If he stopped Emailing after 18 years then that must tell you something. He's either dead or doesn't want to know. I'm sorry to say.

These "do you know where this person" threads on a public internet forum very rarely turn out happy.

That's the best piece of advice which protects everyone's confidentiality.

In this case I have a feeling you are sincere and I hope you find your friend in good health. Good luck............

Thank you for the positive responses. Robert is and always will be an outstanding friend. My motives are sincere. I am afraid that he is possibly dead, and that is why I am investigating.

Robert is 59, real heavy in the stomach region and does not eat a healthy diet. His friends joke with him about his regular meal...steak, double order of frys and a large coke.

I used his first and last name because Robert is quite a common name. I also noticed that someone else used his first and last name before I did. That is how I discovered this site.

I am a long-time Asian traveler (since 1990). I am a member of the Global Gentlemen's Club and its predecessor since 2000. I will check with the British embassy. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Dumbo

P.S. Someone said I could possibly be a bill collector. Now that is a good one. My 2 siblings and longtime traveling buddy are also worried about Robert.

P.P.S. If anyone wants to contact me about Robert privately they can send me a pm through the Global Gentlemen's Club. My name there is Dumbo.

I just done a quick search, the person that mentions him passed away last year, but it seems that the man your looking for is or was a member here.

I reiterate, if anyone does find him, ask him to contact Dumbo (real name?) not tell Dumbo where he is
