Need Help With An Address In Sakon Nakhon

Hello. I'm new to the site. I want to see if anyone can help me "decipher" an address.

It was given to me as the following (I will delete the actual number):

ban Pakho Tombontaraa aomper mong gungvat sakon nakhon 47230

Is this a misspelling? Did the address get corrupted in a translation somehow?

I did look up what appears to be the zip code (47230) but came up with Pon Nakaew.

I'm not familiar with Thai addresses, so I'm afraid if I send the letter addressed this way, it'll never reach it's destination.

Any advice or "good guesses" would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Ban Pakho would be the town. Tambon Tara is a district, Aphur Muang is the main area of a province, the provential capital, gungvat, I dont have a clue, Sakorn Nakorn is the province.

I would hazard that you should write the address like this

    Ban Pakho
    Tambon Taraa
    Amphur Muang
    Chumwat Sakon Nakhon 47000

Could be changwat is how I would have spelled it. But sure as heck thats what it has to be.

But it should have some numbers plus something that is either Mu or Moo and a digit.

    Like 345/34 Mu 4

    Name

    Numbers and Mu

Then the rest of the address.

It's Jangwat, Province. Jangwat Sakorn Nakorn. The spelling in the address is atrocious

    It won't.

Try This, I don't know how to spell Baan Pakho but I've changed other names into a form the Thai Post office will understand.

    Baan Pakho
    Tambol Tha Rae
    Amphur Muang
    Sakon Nakhon
    47230

DrB0b's spelling looks better than mine

Post code for Amphur Muang should be 47000

Can't the person you need to mail give you the address in Thai? Print it out and stick it on your mail, put the English address on too and you're covered inside and outside Thailand.

If the postal code is correct then all the above are suspect.

^Well done one and all! Would have loved to see AO, Bob, DD, Thetyim and Norton sat round a pub table discussing the address. Sure it would have been debated for over an hour!

Not being Hitler's (Chitown's) 2nd in command but I'm with him.

    จังหวัด = จ(j) ั(u) ง(ng) ห(not pronounced) ว(w) ั(u) ต(t) = jungwut/jungwat.
