    Rocket festival

Ive just googled rocket festival in yasothon and I see that i have missed it again.
    Has anyone been there?
I always think that it is at the end of the wet season but of course it is at the beginning.
What is the road like to yasothon?

    April-ish I believe.

    Quite nice.

Give it around 8 hours or so.

Take a scenic route, probably through Khao Yai NP, maybe stop off at the temples in Buriram - Phanom Rung.

I'd do it that way and stay over in Buriram on the way.

You've a while to plan it anyway.

There is a big on held at Phanom Phai around the end of May, early June.

Went there in 2007, parade/carnival the day before and it looks like every house in the village makes their own smaller rockets, pick-ups driving around collecting them loaded to the gunnals!

Well worth a visit, I check every year for the date, but usually working so have not been back since. Coming from Yasothon south west on the 202, about 7km take a left and keep going.

I'll post some photos when I have enough posts.

The "Rocket Festival" is a culmination of many heats held in local villages. The finally being Yasothon. The regional heats are just as entertaining and have easier access etc.
