    Car Rental in Udon Thani

Sister and BIL are coming to visit, and want to rent a car.

I have searched a bit on the net, and can rent a Pickup at around 17000 Baht for 2 weeks.
Picking it up at Udon Airport and drop off same place.

    Any experiences ?

Pickup not preferred, but seems to be the cheapest.

    TIA

    Udon Car Rent

I used Udon Car Rent on my last trip. Reasonable price and had no problems. As I am a new user I cannot post links yet but just do a google search for "udon car rent" to find their website.

I rented a car from Ratana Car-Rent last November. I think I paid about 900 baht a day for a small sedan. The car was in excellent shape and had no problems. On I return was refunded all of the deposit.

Mate the best deal going is to use Avis rent a car straight out of Udon Airport. Reason being its an international company and totally reliable providing 100% insurance and one can hire a GPS for 200 baht per day.

Book in advance on the internet and the base rate can be as low as 550 baht plus extra for insurance.

I always use Avis direct from the Airport because of convenience.

Anyway matey don't fok around check this out.

Some of the car agencies apparrently will charge lots extra if you by accident damage the car, such as paying for when the car is in service etc.
Is this just a myth, or has any esteemed TD member had a bad car rental experience with a car rental company in UD ?
Otherwise I agree the safest bet seem to go with Avis - but probably also more expensive..

Only that Avis wouldn't accept my CC and most places in Udon have knackered cars.

I use Triple Y. They're near the airport and speak crap English, but only 900Baht a day (you may have to barter) for a Vios or a Pickup.

I'm not saying they're great or anything, just cheaper than some of the others.

Thank you very much ! Much appreciated !
I just read some scary stories about if you damage the thing, then some companies charge you a lot for repairs, time at the repair shop etc (?)...

Same everywhere in the world mate, if you don't have your rental car fully insured up you could be in for a very nasty shock especially if you go with a smaller firm just to save a few hundred baht.

That's why I always go with Avis as you always know where you stand regards your insurance cover.

Be very careful regards your insurance cover on any rental car, just pay the extra to have full coverage, the peace of mind is well worth it.
