I am a Beer Lao Drinker

Found this on another forum, very funny.

When the moon shines on the D-Max
And we’re rollin’ in the hay
All the buffalo are out there grazing
And mia noi is on her way

    Chorus:
I am a Beer Lao drinker
I drinks it all of the day
I am a Beer Lao drinker
It soothes all me troubles away
    Ooh aargh ooh argh aay

    Chorus:
It’s so cosey in the kitchen
The smell of kao phad moo
When the breeze blows past the farmyard
You can smell the cow $hit too

    Chorus:

When those combine wheels stops turning
And a hard day’s work is done
There’s a bar around the corner
It’s the place we have our fun

    Chorus:
I am a Beer Lao drinker
I drinks it all of the day
I am a Beer Lao drinker
It soothes all me troubles away
    Ooh aargh ooh argh aay
Sing to the tune of the Wurzel's I am A Cider Drinker.

That's a shame, I would have thought someone would have imported it into the States.

As much as I like Chang and Singha, I always bring back a shitload of Beer Lao Dark when I do a visa run to NK. It's about as close as you're going to get to English bitter in this part of the world. When I was married, my wife's brother-in-law was driving a 10-wheeler into Laos twice a week and brought back loads of the stuff. Oh and Lao whiskey, too, which wasn't bad. The wedding was fuelled by Lao alchohol which, I suppose, is appropriate as my wife is half-Lao.

I wish I could buy it around KK.

Beer Lao tastes nice and malty but last time I was on it I had a worse hangover than a Changover so I won't be touching it again thankyou very much.

The best thing I loved about Beer Lao was sitting at one of those dumpy cafes at the side of the Mekhong River, sipping beer and watching the sunset. And there was no sneers or come-ons if I was alone (like I'd get in Thailand). Lots of Lao women in their traditional dress would be sitting alone doing the same thing. Heaven. I think they tore down most of those places, tho.

Agree it tastes better in Laos but good enough in Thailand to beat Chang and Singh.

Just bought a few BeerLao lager in Copenhagen, Denmark. Direct from an importer/distributer of Asian food at the equivalent of 65 b. each. Drinkable, and it reminds me a bit of the Dutch beer Grolch.
