For convenience,it's hard to argue with the car rental desk at Ubon airport.
Maybe not the cheapest in town, but last time I looked they seemed reasonable. It's a family business, so not Avis or Hertz prices-
Ubon Ratchathani Private Transportation
Theres another company listed that does older vehicle rentals, so u can compare.
I have only used Budget or Hertz or what ever at Ubon airport. A bit pricey but booked online and couldn't fault the service.
I can't speak for Ubon, but in Udon I initially made the mistake of using the desk at the airport. For a decent twin cab pickup it was B1800/day.
On the subsequent trip I listened to the g/f () and paid B450/day for the same in the local Tambon (with him picking up at the aitport FOC). Hire of driver was B200/day, which I used twice so I could get royally pissed!
^ I agree that a local hire is much cheaper, but you need to have someone 'on the ground' to sort it out.
You can just call them (might need a Thai speaker) and compare prices-
Chao Wattana (they have an airport booth)

^Two offices? That would make him 'yai', surely?
Bump.
How did you go Carnwadrick?
mobile number is also incorrect.
^ Alternatively, for around 100K you can buy an old Vios or Hilux, and keep it for future visits.
