    Great Swing

So, I'm out running this morning along Mukkamontree Road in Baan Suan Prik Thai, not far from my house. It rained hard last night and as I'm running I notice a guy standing about 100 meters down a very muddy soi. He looks like a typical Isaan guy; thin, middle aged, wearing rubber slippers, a plaid Isaan-style sarong and nothing else.

It looks like he's tapping the ground with a long stick. Close to where he's standing is a small, plastic bucket. I can't figure out what he's doing so I stop and watch for a while. Suddenly he stares into the distance, lifts the stick up behind his neck and then takes a might swing at the ground.

    Whack!

Turns out the bucket is full of golf balls and he's out there practicing his swing!

He he. The things you see in Thailand.

That's probably the thing I miss most about Thailand. I used to get a surprise every day when I lived there. Australia is so boring and mundane.
