The only Café of its kind in Khon Kaen, emerged because of a desire by
two Kiwi’s, living and working in Khon Kaen, to be able to drink "real" coffee. This is of course not taking anything away from the locally brewed iced coffee, which is a heavily sweetened blend that generally comes from Laos. This coffee in itself, called "Kafe Yen", and usually served in a plastic bag with accompanying straw, is unique and well worth sampling if traveling through Thailand. With the support and assistance of respective partners,
Kiwi Café left the drawing board and began to take shape on the ground.
Kiwi Partner Bryce, locally known as "Boon" and who is fluent in Thai, managed the project. In true
Kiwi "do it yourself" style, Bryce and Gerry did all the electrical work as well as decorating and fitting out. The unique style of the Café required a very "hands on" approach through all stages of building.
