Hi Guys, just wondering if anyone knew of a 40 Ft shipping container for sale around the traps or a place of business that sells/rents containers in the Korat Area.

talk to a shipping agent, a couple of years ago 90,000b
Be sure to have the concrete foundation set up to receive the container - obviously, once set in place, difficult to alter.
Good idea. Container craze in Europe and elsewhere for housing.
ataloss, thanks for the reply and it gave me a bit of a laugh thinking about living in a container in the middle of a Thai summer - I think the AC would be on overdrive for sure - can't wait to tell the wife how close she came LOL. We have a 7 Rai block of dirt that I will build a home on but my wifes home is five minutes away from the land so I cannot keep an eye on things. I was in the building game in OZ in my previous life and my mate allways had his container moved from site to site to lock up his tools, mixers, genset etc etc so I figured I would do the same here. It also allows any gear that is delivered before the house is at 'lockup stage' to be locked away from thieving arseholes.
Again thanks for the thought. HalC

Necron99, Thank you very much for taking the time to post that info for me. I have sent off a couple of emails to both of those links you posted. I am having the block cleared this week and the dam dug after that so after all the overburden is spread I will have one delivered. Thank you again. HalC
On the highway in Saraburi leading to Nakhon Ratchasima, right before McDonalds, is a a red 3 level re house built with shipping containers. They sell them there and can probably get a good deal. I think Miterap Highway is the name of the highway but not sure, right before Pak Chong/Khoa Yai exit off the main highway on the way to Nakhon Ratchisima.
This is an email quote I received regarding a project my wife and I are considering.

You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!
Try Googling Earthbag houses. Add a small air-con and it could be like living in a cooler. Inexpensive, fast, long lasting.
OP is looking for storage, not living.
But since we have gone that way, it seems these prices are over the odds somewhat? I know containers are traded and are indexed like a commodity, I seem to recall about half the price last I looked in Oz.
At these prices it works out as 3000 baht per sq meter for what probably amounts to 30% of completed construction? Surely that makes them a barely viable construction option, particularly given the other downsides to using them?
I remember assisting to unpack a box in Thailand in summer 30 yrs ago, jesus! I lost so much water I passed out.
In cooler climes, they are a proposition.
In Christchurch in NZ following the earthquake they built a retail center out of them.
^ hot enough?
saw this in Thairath yesterday, temporary prison accommodation, for 'up to 30' prisoners in Thung Song, Nakhon Si Thammarat
A 20ft one.
After a night in there It will smell like a Ho's crutch after being banged by the US Navy.
I think you are missing the obvious - it can work out to be zero baht per sq metre (or there about) if you on-sell the container after the construction is completed !! I have used them many times in OZ and sold a couple of them to a buyer that was driving by my building site and saw the 'for sale' signs - both of them were actually sold for more then I paid for them. I would not expect a drive by sale here in LOS but I figure if I am looking for one advertised for sale then some one else will be doing the same sooner or later.
OP, just a thought. When I was getting ready to build my house, I built a large storage area/carport where I was able to lock up all my tools and supplies. It also gave me a place to observe all the work in the shade and park my car. It cost me about 100,000+ baht to build and might be less expensive that purchasing and transporting a shipping container, plus you will have a jump on your house building.
It has worked well for me and my brother-in-law now actually lives in it and is the property caretaker/gardener. The house is still not finished, but at least I have a place to get away and contemplate more building plans.
As you can see, we had power and water, plus counter space to prepare some meals. My plan was to use the space for locking up my motorcycles and tools and possible turn it into a small workshop when the house was completed.
Turned my 40ft shipping container into a spare accommodation and it's worked out better than expected. Installed screen doors at the entrance and 5 jalousie windows so its got good cross-ventilation. Sure, it hot during the day but at night there's no need for an A/C which I thought I'd have to install.
A Deplorable Bitter Clinger
Seems like the key for containers is putting them places building is going to be a hassle. Seems like putting them in a place where construction is easy makes little sense. I've started looking into them, but would love to see more pics on the topic.
