Thumbs up Holiday house & pool: Udon Thani

There seem to be more alternatives to large hotels and resorts in Thailand nowadays...and even properties similar to what has been quite common in Bali for deacades.

Recently stayed at a place called Gecko Villa (google it!) and really enjoyed it: a large 3 bedroom house with a great swimming pool, bang in the rice fields with huge grounds, out of Udon Thani. The couple who looked after it lived nearby and could not have been more helpful, picking us up at the airport, cooking delicious Thai meals and keeping us plied with cold beer..all included in the rate we had agreed! The visitr book was fully of glowing comments. recommedned for a romantic couple, or family stay, but no if you're only looking for the nightlife..

Any such place eslewhere in Thailand? We would like at least 2 bedrooms, and a private pool again. Will be going back to Gecko Villa but would also like to find this kind of place down South.

    Thanks!

Then expect to pay a lot more.
Sea Sand and Sun have 2 bedroom bungalows for around 3000 baht per night, nice and quiet, pool and beach, meals extra.

In the north, Sanpatong 27km out of Chiangmai, Kaomai Lanna Resort & Hotel, Nature Boutique Hotel In Chiang Mai Thailand, Holiday & Honeymoon is a nice resort, not crowded, with a nice pool (not private) but a charming atmosphere. Not far from my home so I had the opportunity to visit some times for a drink and relaxing.
