    US to KK

Anyone fly from the US to KK lately? Was wanting to take a trip back to see the in-laws and was hoping to get the recent rates and suggested flight paths (i.e., thru Dubai or Tokyo). Any comments are appreciated.

Are you going via the East Coast (I see your listed location is Texas, but is that where you're leaving from)? The fastest route from JFK-BKK is on Emirates (through Dubai)- it's about 22 hours each way and runs about 42K (plus whatever it takes for you to get to Bangkok from KK)- you can fly cheaper (through Egypt Air, i.e.) but you'll be adding a lot of time (and you'll probably arrive back too late to avoid spending a night in BKK- the Emirates flight lands at 7pm, which will allow you to catch a domestic flight somewhere else).

EVA isn't too bad via Narita, but they only fly to Newark, and they have an extra stop (in Alaska) on the way back.

You can use Kayak.com to research routes and fares- they're pretty informative.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

    US to KK

Thanks, Fail Safe. Sounds like Dubai is the best route. Don't care to stay in BKK over nite when I can catch a plane to KKC that day. Be the easiest trip I ever made there. House just outside Chumpae. BTW, leaving from IAH in Houston.

Fly out of JFK now, since Nov 2011

No more stop in Alaska also, 15 hr 15 min non stop

It still stops at Taipei, though (no one has run a true non-stop from JFK-BKK since Thai dropped it a few years ago- I loved that flight and took it several times)- its good they dropped the Alaska stop- that sucked- they're now a couple hours faster than Emirates.

Eva is expensive at the moment- the cheapest flight I found was over three grand.

    Talking US to KK

Think my bet is still going to be on Dubai because of the ability get "home" in one day. Can't wait to see the expression on Sai's face when I walk through the gate. Course, better be careful as I think she actually got a dog.

Didn't Continental have a direct to BKK about 10-15 years back?

    Thanks again, fellas.
