Arrow Want to buy a second-hand refrigerator with large freezer compartment

I want to buy a second-hand refrigerator with a large freezer compartment (30 litres or more). My budget is around 3,000 Baht. I want to modify this fridge, drill a hole in the body to insert 2 pipes and electric wire, install a water tank in the freezer compartment and a pump in order to construct a water chiller, input warm water (+50 degrees Celsius) and chill this water down to +5 degrees Celsius and output the chilled water to cool my equipment, the water flow rate is not over 100 litres per hour.

    I live in Nongkhai.

If anyone in Nongkhai or Udon Thani area has a second-hand refrigerator for sale please let me know. Thank you.

You could buy a brand new water chiller for that price.

No, I need the water flow rate of 1 litre per minute. The one you mean is not powerful enough, I've seen at Tesco Lotus.

I dont live in Asia, but Tesco's is just a supermarket. Why not go to an industrial place that makes these specky things you want, and not a budget crap thing for the normal household.

Good luck with your quest & WTB.

I hope as a newcomer you wont be accused of being a cheap bastard for having a budget. It's sad but there are some users like that here.

It's an interesting problem. I would look for discarded display freezer, the ones they use for icecreams in 7/11 for example

But why you need to have the pump inside the fridge ?

Is it possible to have the design of the whole stuff ?

I don't think you would find a used large refrigerator as most Thai's use the small ones. Mine is a large one 19 cubic ft., but it was new and expensive. Haven't senn ANY large ones around.

    I agree with Ralph.
We have a large fridge but I would expect a lot more than 3000 baht for it 2nd hand

There's a place in Udon that may be able to help you. They deal with the Sanden stuff and seem to knock up quite a bit of their own gear. They have a shop somewhere around L8 on the UdonMap map.

    Equipment cooling

Wow, all that to cool your equipment! Usually all I need is a cool damp towel, with perhaps a few ice cubes thrown in. It sounds like you are running yours much faster, and perhaps with a wider whopping rod,

Have you done this before? Have you done your sums. If you fill up the freezer (30) litres and let it freeze it would keep your process going for about 2 hrs until the ice is all melted. I reckon the average freezer is about 1800kJ/hr so add a little bit extra if the compressor is running but not much, about 20 minutes more.

The whole thing would not run continuously as there is not enough cooling capacity.

If you want comtinuous operation you would be better buying and old A/C compressor/fan unit and some copper tubing and put the tubing inside a water tank and cool the water that way. If my calcs are correct you need just under 6000 btu per hour so a small 9000 btu unit would suffice.

A cooling tower in Thailand will only get you down to at best 27C.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
