    Hello to everyone

I just would like to say hello to everyone here. I currently live in the USA but will be moving to Thailand in less than 3 months. I will be honest and say that I am new to TeakDoor even as a reader. I have read nearly all posts on the Paknam Network websites, Stickman's content and ThaiVisa. After reading many many hours here I would like to make this forum my home, I like the people here. I had a horrid experience with one of the above mentioned sites and will not even browse their pages again.

The people here seem very down to earth and real, in fact the invite to the party at Rigger's a couple years ago was the deciding factor for me. It showed that you are all real people, not a bunch of crotchety old miserable drunken expats who have been cheated by BG's complaining about how terrible Thailand is. I look forward to many conversations and hopefully meeting many of you as well. I guess this summarizes why I am here and concludes my first post. Nice to meet you all and cheers.

    Joshua

Gosh! That wouldn't be ThaiVisa, would it?

ThaiVisa is only good if you're gay or are into small children. Welcome to TD - I hope you're not the 'sensitive' type.

Welcome Josh, I've been to Mukdahan a few times and find it a very enjoyable
place. The road that takes you to Hanoi is a bonus.
    good luck in your move.

Welcome. Can always use another Yank on board. Enjoy and get to posting. I see on another thread you stated you will be in Mukdahan. I'm not far from there. Give me a PM when you get to Thailand.

Being called a liar, a c*nt and so on is not cool when posting simple questions, I will not go to the visa site again. I am not at all the sensitive type and I don't expect expats to exercise the typical Thai mannerisms involved in the whole concept of face, but to treat people like they do and then go on to say how well they have 'adapted to Thai ways' just makes me shudder to think this is how farangs are represented in Thailand lol... I am not sensitive as long as people are treated as humans without using the most obscene British bar slurs and insults that one can think of.

Thank you all for the kind reception, and I will do so Norton, it looks as though I may be one of your nearest neighbors from this site. I can't wait to spend some time in Roi Et, it looks gorgeous!

Welcome to the TD forum Josh. As Sdidget posted and JJ concurred with about eyes being opened with a little reading of the late night postings. and about being thin skinned, don't be. and don't be to serious about some of the posts outside of this pampered newbe section. I'm with you, DK, and some others by the way. Don't let us down now. Enjoy!

I give him a week I'm already holding back over the "do they have mobile phones in Mukdahan?" posts.

^Prepare for a PM full of the most obscene British bar insults (it's something to do with lawyers, right?), as soon as Marmite tells me some.

Hello mate. You'll have to stop using that word as there is only one person on this forum who is qualified.

That being our good friend " butterfly " who uses it describing his latest lady boy conquest.

    Paddy.
Is that all they've got? A definite sign of the increasing gayification of British culture. I blame that fat Muslim poove Jenny Clarkson.

If you want to see something really cringeworthy check this out. It's what I got when I googled "obscene British bar insults". The Best of British - The American's guide to speaking British..., an American guide to British slang. There's a guide to Irish slang as well but after 3 minutes reading it I started to bleed from the ears.

Biggie - A biggie is what a child calls his poo! Hence the reason Wendy's Hamburgers has never really taken off in England - who would buy "biggie fries"? Yuck - I'm sure you wouldn't buy poo fries! The other meaning of Biggie is erection.

Thank you all, even you DrBOb. I am not too worried, you can learn alot from people's posts. Forums are made to be read and typically I read about 50 threads to my single posts. It makes life a bit easier to try and understand where people are coming from before I make assumptions. But I guess assumptions are what makes the internet so fun sometimes.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Anyone care to guess how many members here are currently residing in Thailand? What is the average time the members here have lived in Thailand?

I would like to add an apology for any Brits I offended, I did not mean to make it sound as though you are all obscene, vulgar and rude, rather just that some of the other forums lean that direction. Honestly it was meant as a compliment to the members here that do not behave that way 100% of the time.

    Anyway, thank you all again.
