    Diesel performance

I decided to start my own thread on diesel performance as the old thread is mixed in with petrol and engine conversion stuff, as well the truck is in Bangkok getting some more serous modifications done on it, will be keeping it as a daily driver but will be one of fastest diesel street trucks in Thailand.
All started with a 2009 2.5liter Chevy 2x4 which needed a bit more power so I bought a power lab monster piggy back system, which was made up of a Fuel pressure controller, A boost cut, and a DSM system which meant we could increase the fuel rail pressure and the amount of fuel as well boost up to 22 PSI on the standard turbo and at a guess 180 to 200HP. This mod was good value and the truck was fast and a lot of fun to drive and was bought from

The first upgrades were minor and the standard disc brakes where up to the job at the time and not required. But I could of had better tires on at the time of the accident, not that it would of stopped the accident as there was no time to act. I had the power lab stuff fitted in Khon kaen and pickup was booked to go to Bangkok for suspention and brakes upgrades but had the accident a week before.

As well the truck and brakes are designed to carry loads and standard had a top speed of 170 klm/h. With mods done the truck still only had a top speed of 180 klm/h as it still had a speed limiter.

Once the truck was repaired it was sent to Monster Performance Industries
    for some more upgrades

First up was 330mm vented disc with 4 pot Brembos and stainless steel brake lines, note the rims were only 17" in the picture and were changed out to 18" as there wasnt much room inside the 17" rims.

    18" Nismo rims

Then they started work on the engine mods
Bigger intercooler,Quick spool exhaust manifold, Blitz waste gate, Hybrid turbo made up from a modified Holeset turbo housing and a borgwarner turbine, large single plate race clutch, Custom 2.5” exhaust system

After fitting the mods we decided to upgrade the fuel system with fuel pump good for of 100cc of fuel instead of the standard 60cc, as well fitting larger 6 hole race injectors.

Now the truck had some real power

Will these mods make the motor unreliable?

Is it worth fitting a dump valve without other mods as i like the sound?

Dyno test 5th gear roll on, running 45 psi of boost, we did have it running 60 psi of boost and a rich map. The car was very quick but due to black smoke and wanting to keep the engine in one piece we de-tuned it and dropped the boost to 45 psi, The truck was still super quick

Yes you arent going to get a lot of life out of engine/gear box/clutch that is putting out more than three times the power it was design to if you run standard internals. I will get to the modified internals upgrades soon. I ran the truck on the standard internals for around 8 months and never had any major problems but this was a new pickup.
As for dump valves diesels dont normal have them but there is a kit that you can buy to fit but will get no gain from fitting it.

Intercooler well hidden, great for stalking the highways and traffic lights, for some reason Thais just can’t resist a challenge but soon realize the little truck has more than a race chip fitted. Brakes, rims, Carbon bonnet are a bit of a give away

Fitted a front spoiler to give it that race truck look, added smart gauge set up, Recaro seats, Full race harness.
Also fitted a speed cut unit to get rid of the speed limiter and the truck was now good for about 220 klm/h and got there in super quick time

All it needs now is a light bar and some foundation stickers.

I think to maintain the Q-car image the front spoiler should go but....

After thought: How about painting the door white like a CHP Mustang?

While the car is in Bangkok its getting the matt black vinyl wrap and blacked out windows and a full 8 piont roll cage. Still looking for the blue healer.

Now along with the vinyl and the roll bars the new mods that are being done at the moment are.
    Forged Piston
    Forged rods
    Compound Turbos
The new monster V2 system from power lab
RB25 gear box with race gears installed
    3.5 diff
    Rear disc brakes.
Looking at making 400HP + and 900 nm of torq but still a every day driver. Will update as its done

What's the noise i have heard that sounds like a whistling jet of air being expelled from the exhaust or engine?

Been hearing more and more pickups around with some sort of electronic device that makes a turbo type whistle when they take off
