Fecks sake, the 3.0L turbo diesel Vigo has 343nm of torque when stock. The Camry 2.4l only has a meagre 161nm, with similar BHP figures!

No contest!

Actually I bet the Tudster drives around with the window down, arm on the sill, and music pumping from the stereo.

Didn't it go out of production in 1985? Mercedes-Benz W123 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Only 182 bhp. I bet the power to weight ratio is poorer than a new Jazz (120bhp)

A Jazz has three more doors. Much more convenient for a family

True, no denying that. The back-seat in my car's only there for decoration. Would still struggle to fit my twin-terrors and assorted crap into a Jazz though. And mind you the Merc is only for a bit fun every now and then - got the family wagons to cram everyone into.

Nope, couldn't/wouldn't live there if I could help it. What's with all the q's?

I would not they "some" but "most of them", at least the two and three digit numbered, surprisingly even in the sticks.

Ok you got the torque & bhp figures.
Now be honest and post up a certifiable performance comparison chart.

Diesel engine is limited by RPM (Revolution Per Minute).

A diesel engine will always lack in acceleration and top end performance. Period.
But what it does have is midrange grunt. This is the part where the torque that you happily talk about come into play. Thus giving you the illusion that you are driving one fast motherfookin pickup. But soon as you hit 4,000 RPM you have to grab another gear and so on till you run out of gears usually fifth gear. Cars will continue to be in front. As it revs higher for longer. So a pickup like yours governed to say approx 4,500 RPM stuck in 5th gear as opposed to a car at 6,000 RPM in 5th gear. Which will be the one most likely to be travelling faster?
And as a gentle reminder the advertising slogan for Toyota in the past is "The car in front is a Toyota"! Not pickup.

Personally I couldn't care less if the pickup is faster. It is still a pickup.

Needs the engine equivalent of a hip replacement if it's ever going to see those heady days again!

It's a taxi FFS!

Not when highway driving which is what we're talking about. Torque is what matters, and the pick-up knocks the Camry into a cocked hat.

So you don't remember then. I'd get that looked at if I were you; diesal fumes might be affecting your short-term memory or something.

Fact is it has more refinement and comfort than any pickup does.

Highway driving is even worst. You have no top end. C'mon now drop to your knees and give in, you are fighting a losing battle here.
The pickup rests on a heavy chassis, the gearing are suited for lumping a heavy load, diesel engine are known only for their low to mid range torque at low speed. It is a basic work horse not a race horse.

The torque figures I gave earlier are at 4,000RPM which is more top end for a diesel pick-up. The Vigo redlines at a touch over 5,000RPM.
