| I drove a 2002 passat(1.9tdi) a few weeks ago, the gearbox was very loose and the electric windows didn't work, it had 180,000 miles on it and the engine sounded fine |

| The 1.9tdi was not officially imported to LOS so it must be a grey import. I assume it is for sale here. What sort of info do you want. ? The EGR was suspect in my opinion but overall a very good car. |

| ^^Nothing specific on the Passat but a friend in Phuket had an Audi TT from VW dealer in Bangkok. Parts and service big problem as they have only one dealership in Thailand. They may have added some VW dealers now but as of 2 years ago only one on Vivapadi Rangsit in Bangkok.

| You gotta be brave to buy a Euro import here, Partic a grey market one. Some years ago I brought a Aust GM, ex embassy car. Parts which are dirt cheap in Aust transormed themselves into pure gold when they crossed the Thai border. |

VE had a distributor type injection pump and came in two specs, 90 & 110 hp You can tell the 110hp because the i in the tdi badge is red. The PD version had unit injectors and gave more power (sorry cannot remember the figure)

If it is in good condition and reasonably priced then 'go for it' If you need any parts then expect them to be expensive even when you import them yourself
