The nicest 150 2T race reps available over here are the Kawasaki KRR's. By a country mile. This is also shown in their prices compared to the above Yamaha's and Honda's. Main reason being they run a mechanical power valve so you can throw the battery in the bin. The Yams & Hondas need a charged battery in the system to run the power valve electronic servo. Also a helluva lot of aftermarket stuff for them as they were very popular in SE Asia as a whole.

I agree. A neighbor of mine has a KRR. Has some trick stuff on it. He has it naked and a very nice Ti chambered exhaust. Runs super clean. Sadly though I have never heard him ring it out. I bet its sounds really sweet.

    And note the prices.
I had a look on there and Smokybike, some wanting as high as 60k! Average being 35-40k for decent ones.
I test rode my Thai mate's, at 160, there was loads left, at 120 it felt like a cruising all day speed. He specializes in these, is a mechanic with his own corner mom'n'pop m/c shop.
The bike i rode, he once rode 80 kms the other side of Udon, down to Buriram, AND BACK, the same day......

    Gosh.
Thanx for that nugget of useful information. Well over 700 kms in a day, on a bicycle, in Thailand, well impressed.

Think he means he rode from 80km North of Udon down to Buriram and back in one day. Not an 80km trip.

It's pretty easy to clock up high numbers of Km in one day in Thailand. Bugger all police traps/cams etc, and you only get fined a small amount if caught, compared to back home where it's half your license points gone and a 100 quid fine. Left CM at 7am and arrived home in Bkk at 1pm last time I did it. Open empty 3 lane roads pretty much all the way, just needed 3 gas stops to stretch the legs. Was hardly difficult.

    Correctomondo.
    Which is over 700 k's.
Pretty damn good going on a 150cc 2 stroke.
Which is why i mentioned it.....

Test rode this 1100 Blackbird this morning.

    I don't really need to go 303kph or want a bike that's almost 300kg.

    Though it is mighty smooth.

96k baht not including Lulu's 10% test ride fee if anyone's interested.

A mate of mine was in a bind a few months back, put his up for sale for 50k, ended up taking something like 27k from a bike shop.

Indeed. And it ^ can still handle a cross-country U.S./CND (hassle-free) road trip, 36-years later. Way to go YAMAHA...

I'm well past the days of heavy bikes. They're fine when they're moving at speed but can be a struggle when turning very slowly. Not that I dropped mine often, but I can remember a couple of embarrassing times.
