Motoring in Thailand and Asia Cars and motorbikes in Thailand and Asia, Where to buy and sell your truck? Where to get fixed and what garage to use. Should I buy a suzuki carry? Will it have a car DVD? Will my travel insurance cover me for driving in Thailand? Or should I just buy a Mercedes or a Honda CRV? Everything to do with motoring and vehicles goes in this section. Do I really need a driving licence in Thailand to drive to Bangkok car hire?

Had a read up on the net and it seems they recommend you change out your helmet every 5 years, due to the foam padding loosing it ability to cushion in the event of a accident and the effects of UV light on the polycarbonate. Seeing as it has been in storage and has new lining I think it should be OK

Even though the seller states many times that it isn't up to current safety standards?

Just as well it hasn't got much to protect...

We met a Austrian couple last year in ChiangDao . They had an accident because of a flat tire. Not much would have happened to them , but the vizor ( is it the right word?) of the helmet split and caused cuts in the womans face. Cheap brittle plastic , not to compare with our European standards.

I should say that that helmet I wasted money on was B7000 not 700. Some ornament.

I'm off to Aus and will bring back my Shoei full face. Been in storage for ten years but still is (was?) a good lid. Would like to get it painted though, possible here? It's fibreglass.

Why do knobs on big bikes insist on running with their high beam lights on all day.

I gave one recently a look at my spotlights head on....like a rabbit on the highway he was.

Just goes to show how much you know about riding, daytime, wouldn't be a problem, NIGHT TIME would be with HIGH BEAM coming at you.

Most bikes now days from new have the head light on the moment you turn the key on, as for hi beam could be the light just needs adjustment as I know of no bike riders that run on hi beam during the day

Jezuz mate! are you dyslectic? or is it just the UK Education system ? I hope yr not coming out here to teach.
Anyway there are track days, informal ones usually Sunday mornings at Bira.
Organized ones once every two months. Contact Graham at highside tours.

Well the knobs that like to ride with their lights on high beam should stay in the left hand side of the road, over where all the other tin cans ride.....closer to the gutter the better.

Their were a dozen or so of em up here at Khao Yai over last weekend.....think they deserve special treatment cos they on big bad bikes......same same any other motorbike in the food chain here.
