| Next project for you Rigger should be a single cylinder sports bike. There is a race series in the UK for fourstrokers. People take RGV250s and whack in DR800 engines. Also seen a few RGV250 size bikes with Cr500 engines fitted to them. |

| Elite Member | Three suitcases and 4 boxes of parts. Only missing two bits now, the engine and the frame I wish I just went out and bought one like everyone else. Anyone here a auto electrician as I dont want to use the bulky standard wiring harness and want to try and hide as much wiring as possible

| wiring isn't that difficult, its a matter of having the correct connectors and wire of couse but trying to makae do with the crap connector range here is difficult. unless you are omiting all lighting & instruments I don't see there is a lot you can dump out of the original wiring loom. |

| Tounguin for a beer. | There are probably some Thais that could do a good job of it or try and modify the original yourself then use that as a template for a new one. get your switchgear wires inside the handlebars etc. Web should have some ideas for you. When I was in klong thom -the tool area in Bangkok- I saw all the connectors you would need. Although I only saw the white ones which aren't UV stabalised. You need black which they should have.

| I'd like to have a bike again , haven't fallen off in years ( haven't ridden in years either) anyone know where I can find a Vincent Rapide or Shadow - failing that a Nice G45 Matchless would be acceptable or an AJS or Matcho "Compi" ? |

I have a W650 which is a modern alternative. There is one for sale in Bangkok for 135K. Let me know if you are interested, It is the same guy I bought mine off and he's a good guy to deal with (if you can believe that!) ![]() | |

| ^^ Wrong I assisted in the sale of an AJS on here for a friend, check back through the classifieds section I think. They are here, lots of classic bikes, but if you want an original you will pay, the AJS went for a considerable amount for Thailand. |

| ^ I was told by my Thai mechanic that the GB400s have problems with the oil getting to the cams properly, it affects them more here in the hot climate. People who buy them do some sort of cam modification and drill a hole through it (I think that is what he said) he didn't recommend one for that reason.

| That's true. Had two of them, both had bad cams. Don't know if its a design flaw or the Thai heat. You have to change oil about every 2000Ks. 400s for Japan and 500s for export. I wonder if 500 owners in Oz report the same problem. |
