I wonder why the Amazon name was dropped in UK
Edit::
Found it
"The reason for this was that "Amazon" was already a registered trademark in one export market, Germany."
my first car was a 1937 Austin 7 Special, an open 2 seater
essentially, they took an old banger, ripped off the body and put a new aluminium version and made the engine a bit better
they unfortunately did not do much with the brakes
I remember an old woman stepping out in front of me, me braking as hard as I could, to no avail, then swinging round her onto the pavement to avoid her.....having to go behind a lamppost too
The fastest I ever got her to go, down Death Hill near Brands Hatch, was 85mph
I have reported your post
I dident know that, but the car was a great hit in DK, I believe there are still quite a few running there.Originally Posted by Thetyim

Like this one except mine was a shitty greenish crap color with generous rust-colored patches for character. Had a big engine and a spacious back seat.
Explain please...Any dirty details of lost virginity...Originally Posted by Texpat

A 1977 Capri Mk II 1.3L - Reg VAP 821 S
Loosely based upon the Ford Mustang, which is probably why it didn't like corners.
^ Styling wise.
It had nothing at all in common with any US Fords as it was a 100% European car.
It was based upon the Cortina which was shite. The Escort was a good handling car; slightly shorter wheelbase.
My first car was a ford orion which i had for a month before crashing quite spectacularly through a wall, took out 21 feet of wall with me!
All because dome blind doddery old bat pulled out without looking and i skidded and swerved to avoid her
My first car was a black Standard 8. It was completely knackered but what do you expect for ten shillings!! I remember my Father taking a dim view and insisting that I park it down the street a bit. It didn't have a heater or a spare wheel but it got me out on the road.
I bought a used Mazda 240Z 1973? like this in yellow before I got my licence. Jack-rabbited around a bit before I got the hang of the clutch. No, I did not strip the gears. The heater was sh*te tho; always froze in the winter. Had him for about eight years, until I moved to Asia. The tyres were not this pretty tho.
Holden HX ute.
dont laugh
^Especially like the painted tires. Nice touch.
Had a Daf 44 when I lived in Holland , great car to drive when you were drunk! Didn't go fast enough to hurt anybody- no gears to crunch etc etc.
Highways used to be littered with broken drive belts !!!
My dad had a DAF55 and a DAF 66.
Good cars for their day. Never had a problem.
What was dissapointing was the lack of sense of acceleration.
The engine whirls away at a constant speed and the belts do the rest which made it boring to drive.
The DAF55 had twin belts btw, making it similar to a LSD, and if one belt snapped you can still drive using the other.
Didn't we have this thread a couple of months back/
