^ Yeah The Riley 1500 was a damn fine car.
My uncle used to have one.
He also only had one hand because one of Stroller's relatives blew it off in 1942.
He drove like a madman and used to scare me.
Have been reading this thread with enjoyment, and just realised that I hadn't entered my tuppence worth!
My first car was a 1957 Standard 10 van, which cost me the princely sum of £1. 10 Shillings, or as it is nowadays £1.50.
^ Well that wasn't tuppence worth then, was it

Something to do with imported Swedish steel ?
A gift from my parents after getting my drivers license:
OK I give up, I can't get the photo to paste here! It was a 73 Ford Pinto, a real chick magnet you know.
And they said that they loved me...
The first car I purchased:
Made all my trailer trash friends green with envy.

Citroen 2CV, red, double headlights, 2 Cylinders and 600 ccm, 7000 rpm but no power anyway. Took out the back seats and added some soft cushions, with the soft suspension; the Girls loved it, and me too
'75 Dodge Coronet
I had just received my license. Bought it from my mother's boss for $300 in 1979. It was a fleet car for a cable company. I drove it for two years, never once opened the hood. The right rear quarter panel was rusting so badly, it almost fell off. I repaired it with a DIY fiberglass kit. It looked cancerous.
Had a 360 V8 and a new cassette player. (8-tracks were so yesterday)
Got laid, dumped, drunk and arrested (almost) in the back seat all one December evening.
He ,He ! not a vicar .Bought the car when it was 12 years old around 1975 .Heard about the car being low mileage and good condition ,and bought it for 110 pound sterling if i remember correctly .Had it for around 18 months ,trouble free .I liked the leather seats and wooden dash ,with several dials .Plus the lighted Wolseley sign over the grill .Did not mind it being a bit sluggish ,as it was my first car i did not know any different .Its interesting to see them now for sale as classics on ebay .Can get a good one for about 4000 sterling or less .
^ Looks nice.
Yeah but what is it with manufacturers stringing all those acronyms on car names now!?
I mean "Astra GTE" is fine. But "Astra GTE "!?
Ridiculous!
^ It's probably to keep 'da yoof' happy.
Mine was a VW Polo.
I loved it very much despite it being totally shithouse.
One of its tyres would very slowly deflate all the time so all trips of even the most trivial nature involved a stop at the garage on the corner to pump it up a bit. That garage owner must have thought I was taking the piss since I was there every day but hardly bought any petrol.
Thought about sticking this on Chintee's thread but didn't want to polute his shiny beauts with hideous bangers.
1937 Austin "Ruby" saloon -21 Hp - 2 bearing crank - could just about pull the skin off a rice pudding - but as the only kid in the district with a car had no problem with the ladies !!!
Did you drive it in your mother's lounge?
