Studebaker and Saturn are a couple of makes I remember that are gone now. Dad had a Studebaker Lark when I was a knee high. Uncle had a cherry Avanti stored in his barn alongside his 69 Hemi Charger. He passed away last year, not sure what happened to his cars. He may have sold them before he passed.

Personally I thought the Avanti was ugly as... Uncles was just like this and same color.

The Simca 1100 was for some time the best-selling car in France, while the Simca 1307 and Simca Horizon won the coveted European Car of the Year title in 1976 and 1978, respectively

Dad had a Jensen, secondhand, loved the sound but hated the cost of filling a V8 up in the UK. One of two cars he had I really liked, the other was his Sunbeam Rapier.

Kind of, but it's a different company isn't it? Based on, very heavily based on, Jensen.

What was that car in 'back to the future' that some yank conned the British government to funding the building of them in the UK, obviously they are no longer around.

A Chinese company must have bought the company

NSU were absorbed into the Volkswaken Audi group.

The 1000 TTS was a very under-rated car IMHO

I had a white one of them when I was a teenager; I bought it off a racing guy for 400 pounds... It had quad exhausts and a 4 litre engine, and a tiny racing steering wheel; it was a dirty old car in a terrible state, you wouldn't look at it twice... Coming down the M1 one day at about 80 mph in the overtaking lane, a new Porsche 944 turbo came up behind me flashing his lights. I passed a few cars, then with the road clear ahead in all 3 lanes, I moved across to the fast lane, but one hand on the wheel, one on the headrest, and as he pulled alongside and put his footdown I just kept pace with him. At 160mph, he couldn't go any faster, so I just pulled away into the distance - not sure how fast I actually went as the speedo was maxed out. Quite an enjoyable experience for a young stupid guy...

^ All good, but my worry at that speed is a tyre blowing out.

Last thing on your mind as a young kid racing though.

yep good cars, the Brits knew how to build great things back then,

we could probably blame the EU for letting that go
