    A Hypothetical Accident...

Say, for example, you were at an intersection preparing to turn left. Imagine that you had your indicator on, proceeded to turn left (picture in your minds-eye also that the light was green) and as you were, oh I dunno, lets just say 1/4 through the turn, you hear a sort of dull "clunk".

Envisage, if you will, that you then look in your rear view mirror and see a motorbike lying on the road next to the driver and passenger. Suspend reality for one minute and imagine that what had happened was that the motorbike had obviously tried to round you on the left (the wrong side obviously in our hypothetical example) to go straight (despite the big blinking light) and had then hit your rear-quarter panel when you turned in front of them.

So picture all of that. The hypothetical is would you then feel bad about thinking 'Ah fock it' and simply driving off? For arguments sake, you know, just imagining like.

You did the right thing Ant, Just Fvck off as quick as you can. Years ago in Phuket a motobike ran into the back of me, I stopped, but it was the wrong thing to do as I got nailed for repairs as I was told my fault because I stopped too quickly. Never again, if it their fault, just go!

Hypothetically, yes. I'm imagining minimal damage anyways, slight dent/scrape by and across petrol flap. Which brings me to the next hypothetical, my discussion with the insurance guy:

Insurance Guy: 'So what you're telling me is that you were parked on the side of the road, came back and discovered the dent? That about right?
    Me: 'Yup'.
Insurance Guy: 'Ok, so can we just go over the part where you said the aliens were involved again?'

Shouldn't that be "flee the scene with the police hot-footing it after the culprit", if you believe Pattaya Post reportage.

Well then, taking your example of the Pattaya Post to its conclusion, it would actually be:

"fleed the seen with Mr. Police hot-footing it after the mr. cruminal"

That's criminal behavior & I could not condone it for one moment.

But you did the right thing.

    ^^

I'm imaging that I would've felt quite guilty about it all. For a few minutes.

To survive in a foreign land one must think and act like a native. By fucking off, the police will automatically be looking for a Thai, so you should okay getting through any police check points, hypothetically.

Hmmm, bugger. In our totally imaginary example as set out above, I may have been using my wifes car.

Yes but you're a farang and farangs don't leave the scene of a crime, as a rule, irrespective of whos car it is. And because it was a motorcycleist you should have jumped out and give him a good kicking before, hypothetically, fleeing the scene.

I'm just having thoughts of another hypothetical... my (Thai) wife being stopped and asked to explain the odd motorcycle shaped dent on the car

Perfect! This hypothetical was missing something to this point, a way to pin it all on a Welshman!
