This car doesn't look too bad, also seems to have a stereo system of sorts.

Switches and fans, no idea what the switches are for.

Digital timer?

You probably wouldn't want this car to be the one picking you up at Bangkok airport as there may not be much room to put your suitcase in it.

Is it built with the speakers on the outside so some fuckwit can "share" his crap taste in music with the world?

He'll have to go bigger than that to compete with the cinema advertising trucks and temple noise.

is "drifting" just sliding the car ?

bitumen is easy , need to get sliding on dirt etc where when you get scared and back off the power the car does not automatically get traction again , you still have to ride the ride.

America builds crap cars that handle like a hard boiled egg on a wet plate.
So they desperately invented a sport to try and convince the public that their cars were desirable.

Drifting started in Japan fuckwit. In Japanese cars. Drifting is still done mainly in small Toyotas, Hondas and Mitsubishis.

Although I'm sure it's been done, I've never heard of drifting in American made cars. Mostly Silvias, Lancers and Integras.

Why is it that every thread I open today has some fat-gobbed prick yammering bullshit about America?

Sorry Thetyim, just venting.

Thai custom paint job

Can't remember where the picture is on the forum but it was of a plain black BMW with a new outside sound system, anyway it seems the guys must have been bored so they have given it a spray job.

Inside is quite tastefully done, discrete speakers and stuff.

He reckons a spray job like this is about 10,000baht, so time to start saving your pennies

It is called this as well and many other terms but originally it was known as "pearl" and still is for the most part everywhere.
And it was explained too by Texpats post about how it was put on. But basically it starts with a specific color base coat green, orange, blue, white etc. and then a multi-layered clear coat with differing colors of reflective flakes in it.

True about the origins but now there is numerous American cars being used as well.

A few years ago Rys Millen built a nice new V-8 Pontiac GTO AKA a Holden Commodore in Australia where it originated. check out web address: rodmillenstore.com you'll see it, but not being a fan I don't keep up very much.. Now it seems that he has moved onto a new Solstice.. That looks amazingly like a Panoz I might add..

Only?? That's crazy cheap!! It would cost that and then some for a single color no frills paint job in the States. Not that I would have a paint job like that in this lifetime..

So Rhys Millen (a New Zealander) built a drift-car from a Pontiac GTO (a car based on an Australian design/platform) and it's an "American car"!?

And the flood gates open!!! Yikes!! Semantics!!

Yes....It is an Australian designed platform badged as a PONTIAC GTO owned by Guess who?.......GM... And they originate........From? And a Solstice is who's product? Which is his current ride..... Are you trying to suggest that any cars these days are actually designed or produced exclusively in the land of their origin?

What about the Toyota's (Lexus, American Toyota), Honda's (Acura, American Honda), Mazda's (Ford), VW's, etc. that are made here and in places like the States, Brazil and China to mention just a few. Not to mention Subaru and Isuzu which are also primarily GM..

So....Since the Japanese cars previously mentioned in drifting I.E. Toyota's, Honda's, Mazda's, etc. that are also manufactured in the States by your definition are also considered American manufacturers then right? I guess there was more contradiction in that statement than you realized when you made it..

I'm feeling ya! And by the way I wasn't contradicting or correcting your post as you had already mentioned the following

Dear lord, could you be any more precious!? What a diatribe that is!

I don't know about a diatribe.....
But I would request a little understanding, I saw the but you know how people use them for sarcasm too.

After my brow beating over my swimming pool postings it's difficult not to be immediately on the defensive expecting the flood gates to open when people think they smell fresh blood.

Do you still want that PM so you can start building pools? Oops sorry I can't, I don't have enough posts to PM anyone yet..

Nope, that was another joke. So there's two lesson's in this for you for future reference:

1. I'm, apparently, spectacularly unfunny;
2. Don't take much of what I say seriously.
