Pickup market heats up with introduction of new BT-50 PRO at Big Motor Sales 2016 imp

Bangkok, Thailand, August 18, 2016 – Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. is taking part in the Big Motor Sales 2016 with a full range of SKYACTIV models on display coming with attractive sales promotions including the CX-3, CX-5, Mazda3 and Mazda2, while the new BT-50 PRO pickup is also officially launched, featuring high equipment level, powerful turbocharged diesel engine, SUPER DE-S suspension, premium-level versatility, and the latest infotainment system.

Mr. Chanchai Trakarn-Udomsuk, President of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said the Big Motor Sales 2016 offers a great opportunity for consumers to shop for automobiles that fully respond to their requirements and provide great value for money with outstanding performance and modern technology. “These qualities can be found in all Mazda vehicles, and at the Mazda booth, visitors will meet all our SKYACTIV models with special sales promotions making them easier to own,” he said.

“In addition, Mazda is responding to customers looking for a sporty and robust pickup truck by throwing in additional features into the Mazda BT-50 PRO as standard equipment, thus raising its value even further. Apart from its aggressive exterior design, the SUPER DE-S suspension has proved its outstanding capability, overcoming tough 20,000 kilometers in the historic Thai-Mongolia caravan, and earning praise in roadholding and safety.

Meanwhile, the high output from the Di-THUNDER PRO engine provides unrivalled performance. The BT-50 PRO responds to a wider range of lifestyles, with its attractive exterior and interior design, as well as a high level of luxury and a spacious, comfortable cabin. There is also a modern infotainment system that responds to the modern lifestyle of customers who live in the city. Thus, pickup customers in the present are not only from the provincial area but also from big cities,” he said.

^ What does something as fugly as that BT-50 have to smile about?

Was thinking of getting my wife a Mazda CX-3, one of those would be just right for her. But they sell for around $AUD26K (B650K) in Oz, and around B900K ($36K) in Thailand. So I think I shall wait until Mazda or some other manufacturer builds a 'baby SUV' in Thailand, and hopefully the price becomes more realistic.

Cx-3 is a baby SUV, basically a Mazda 2 with exact same interior. I did hear Mazda may produce a CX 4. I checked both the CX5 and 3 yesterday. Exterior Mazda CX 3 is nicer and sportier. Interior, the CX 5 is dated already, where the CX 3 is very basic inside. Neither would persuade me to change from my 2007 CRV.

^ Yeah I know it is a baby SUV, but it is not built in Thailand and therefore is expensive. None of the manufacturers appear to build a baby SUV in the country. (Will vehicles built elsewhere in ASEAN attract less tax in the future do we know?)

CRV would do her, but is more expensive again. What is Honda's baby SUV? HRV or something?

My wife drives a Mazda 2 in Oz, which is what attracted me to the CX-3. It's a Mazda 2 on stilts!

HRV is fine but pretty basic, although not as much as the CX3. CX 3 is a better driver's car, but the HRV has a little more space.

Price similar to Mazda depending on model.

I checked the Honda out on the same day as it happens.

Personally, for the price, the Mazda 3 and new Civic are better buys.
