How Much to Re-glue a Windscreen?

So, the missus calls me yesterday from the Honda garage... She says that everytime she drives above 100kph (all the time...) that she hears whistling through the car, so she takes it to Honda. They know the problem, common problem when the car is 5+ years old and just out of warranty! The glue in the windscreen needs replacing.

So, here is the question: how much?

Parts & labour; how much do you reckon she paid in total? The first poster to get the question right gets a free drive with the missus along the Nakhon Nayok Highway!

    Cycling should be banned!!!

^ Nice try (second one), and you're now the closest guess!

Pragmatic was on the right lines when he went for the unreasonably cheap...

That would have been close if they'd charged us full price for the glue that needed ordering, but, apparently, due to this being a known problem with the Honda City, they have 'customer glue' in stock at a price subsidized by Honda. Now, I know what you're thinking, and I was too: this is shit old glue that they're mugging me off with and it'll be no good or go again in 6 months! I asked the wife to check and get a warranty, and she said the garage will warranty the work for 5 years (I'm not sure I believe it...).

^ Hmmm, I don't know, but they said glue, the missus waited at the garage - took the windscreen out, they did stuff, applied stuff and put it all back, it works with no more whistle. I don't know the exact process...

    I had to look!

I suppose, when they say glue, they mean primer and/or urethane.\

    ^ bloddy good guess.

    600 baht all in.

I was very pleased with that, initially I expected a 3000-4000 baht bill.

In the good old time wind shields were indeed held in place by a rubber profile. In non old timer cars they are glued in and actually increase the stability of the vehicle.

So Jizzy and BaitongBoy win a 160kmph dash down the Nakhon Nayok Highway in a Honda City driven by the erratic and speedy MrsBoo - just make sure you keep one hand on the windscreen to keep it from flying in or off...

A little side story. Quite a while back we had just bought a new car. My wife was somewhat hesitant to drive it yet and as the old car was not yet sold she used it, transporting bamboo poles for a performance of the Tinikling. How is it called in Thailand?

She had transported them many times but for the last time she maybe was a little less careful and those poles were a close fit. So when closing the back door the window broke into many little pieces. She was somewhat afraid to tell me but when I saw her face I just had to laugh. This window was still with a rubber profile and I found a description how to put in a new one using a simple string. Very easy if you know how. I got a replacement from the junk yard and repaired it for a few €.

It would have been more difficult with the new car. It had them already glued in.
