Import TRD hilux from Thailand to OZ

Does anyone know if it's possible and cost of importing a 2015 TRD hilux to Australia.
The car is in the wife's name. Just seems a waste have a new car sitting in Thailand.

For an Aussie to do it they must have owned and used the vehicle abroad for 12 months prior (and be able to show proof), Not sure how it works with your Thai wife though, What is her visa/residency situation in Aus ?

Price depends on the cost price of the vehicle (import tax calculation) But I know a Ranger Wildtrak cost about 7k AUD for shipping and import taxes.

As Fondles said, check the web site, with wife on non resident visa, no hope, she needs permanent residence then no problems,or swap into your name then wait a year.
The OZ govt loves taxes on imported cars just like Thai.
Pisses me off, had some good cars in UK,rhd, but not used or owned for 12 months,
was not worth the tax hit to import, with car manufacturing now winding down in OZ
there is no need for the bullshit tax anymore but don't think the govt will kill the golden goose

Rigger. I'm sure you have a master plan, but wouldn't it just be a lot cheaper and easier to sell the vehicle that's in LOS, and buy another one in OZ?

Sell it LOS and buy the same in AUS.... cheaper to import what you already own.

Guy I know saved 20k AUD by coming here... buying his Wildtrak then exporting back to AUS after 12 months of ownership.

Fondles, been reading about that but the vested interests in motoring dealing won't give
up without a fight, been reading about not honouring recalls ,safety etc all scaremongering, they have been on the gravy train too long, overpriced imported cars are the norm plus spare parts.
Good thing about the internet is now you can source parts overseas at 1/4 price that dealers want, so the vested interests don't want cars the same.
it will be a long drawn out process before private imports will be legal without the dollar tax cost of now

I know guys with commodores that buy parts from the US cheaper than what the local stealership can supply for !!

Auto industry in Aus is dead. Govmewnt needs to stick a fork in it as a fuck you to GM and Ford right now and let the market flood... no need to give the cunts until the end of next year.

Only seen one TRD here for sale and was a stupid money, even second hand 2014 model was 45,000 Ozzie dollars,
All ready bought 4x4 for me and a nice low Klm family car for the wife but she wants the TRD, which suits me as she won't need a new car many years plus l could sell her current car and by a off-road buggy lol.
I think the one year wait will be best

    ^What about your motorbikes?

If I lived in Australia I'd get me one of these; HJ47/Troopy

    Or one of these;

Surely if Oz is like the UK, your motor will be worth a fraction of what it cost new and you'd get a lot more for it in Thailand?
