Went down to the local Toyota dealer & taken the new Hilux 4x4 6 speed Auto for a test drive.
Keyless entry push button start.
For a auto, it was good but I like Manual.
So it's time the old girl goes, take delivery of the new one next month

What's the price tag? Fully loaded, leather, wood trim etc?

Not sure about the leather & wood work.
I went with 2.8 Diesel 6 speed Manual 4x4 model G extra cab
comes with GPS Cam 3 air bags
So base costs 899,000 + some extra's, 5,000b deposit, now I need to find some money to pay for it next month

How do they define 'extra cab'?

It's still not as big as the Toyota Tundra Crew Cab is it?

3X that price in Brazil and they manufacture them there too.

The socialist government Brazil is currently under jacked up taxes big-time and any vehicle is expensive. Even motocye's. Don't see folks there zipping around like here in SE Asia on motorbikes - can't afford them.

Tires look to small on he new Toyota and as for larger being better...not in this country with its mini-roadways...I can smell the accidents already...

More like the guys that are in a hurry trying to squeeze by in their new oversized vehicle...run you off the road is nothing new however...

Question: Do Thai's have incredible "credit ratings?" I fail to find any who have actually paid cash for just about any major purchase...beginning with a washing machine on up to a motor vehicle. Houses, apt, condo's are a completely different animal in my experience...

Yesterday a neighbor lady/nurse professional, (16 years), came by for a visit and some English lessons. She has just built a house for herself and her mother, credit, new Honda CRV, credit, new Honda Wave, credit, unmarried, earns 20,000 baht per month total.
How does she get a loan?

Driving thru some of the sub, sub soi's in Bangkok one time I encountered a full-sized Hummer maneuvering along fine as you please.

^Yea, the Toyota dealers owner here in Chiang Rai has a Hummer...go figure.

Pretty good protection on the road I imagine.

I don't think he's all that smart, more like show...he let his best and only English speaker get away...brilliant she was. I really enjoyed meeting with her and having discussions. She was to educated to stay here although she was local girl of a ministry official.

Nobody, and I do mean nobody here in the Province of Banharnburi speaks English.

I find that to be almost sacrilegious Boon. There must be a few somewhere's about your local surely?

I always find them in the most unusual circumstances or shop visits. I've met several here while eating lunch in the food mall at Central...open seating and usually crowded. Some senior citizens and then other vegetarians of Thai origin.

I stopped at a computer repair shop one day randomly and the girl inside spoke fair English much to my surprise. They have three shops here. One old lady, (Madam Type) was a assistant to the Kings Mother when she resided in Doi Tung. Her brother also spoke good English and we talked about golfing in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. Nice surprises.

big loss this young lady at Toyota. She was well read and liked to discuss books she's reading or read...open topics...really hurt when she left to return to Bangkok. Some of the best discussions I've had in years.

Wheels and tires are fine. It is the wheels arches that are too big?
