Apologizes to the guys on here. It is a Daihatsu Mira Gino. The only female, i think, is in the shorts.

I drove an Armstrong Siddely once - it had "pre-selected gears".
You'd select your next gear in a box like an automatic and when you wanted it you'd tap a button on the floor where the clutch should be.
    Very confusing.

your obviously a nipper evil, these cars were available in my day even out in the colonies, a remember the Armstrong Siddely well enough, a bit of a toffs car and out of our price range, we were more Austin and Chevy people.

IfIi am not mistaken they were one of if not the pioneers of pre-selector gearboxes. Which were also widely used on London buses.
Now we have twin clutch transmission which essentially do the same. The next gear is there waiting!

May I ask how you know all these TE? Are Brit cars a hobby of yours or were you involved in the trade or what?

No ulterior motives behind my question, it's just that you seem to have a huge knowledge of what (to me at least) are pretty obscure or unremarkable cars.

ive always loved cars, its as simple as that.

the shapes and character of the things more than the mechanicals and the engineering.

A decided advantage if you are a fan of Brit cars, the almighty and beloved Range Rover notwithstanding!

I don't think it's an Austin Cambridge. Too small and wrong shape.

This is the shape of Austin Cambridge I have seen.

You are on the money mr bob, as in a A40 CAMBRIDGE i reckon,
personally i think those small family british cars of the fifties were crap, under powered and hit with a ugly stick.
