2014 Suzuki V-strom1000 ABS coming to Thailand in May for 698k Thai Baht

It's official! The 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS will be sold in Thailand starting in May for 698k Thai Baht-

    Deposits being accepted now!

Wonder why the 1000 is so much more expensive than the V-Strom 650? In the US the 650 goes for $8,299 and the 1000 goes for $12,699

Both are made in Japan, and in the rest of the world the price difference isn't nearly this big...

Anyway! Great to have yet another top bike available in the Land of Smiles!

I was hoping this would be in the 500k bracket as it was a consideration for me. The Ducati multistrada it is then.

Think I will keep scrolling down the page to the Gladius!

That's a whole chunk of change (698k) for the bike.

So in the US market $8550 buys you a V-Strom 650. Paying 49% more gets you on a V-Strom 1000. Or you can pay 70% more and ride a Hayabusa.

For the Thai market the numbers are 350,000 B for the 650, with a 100% premium for the 1000, or a 140% premium for the 'Busa.

Crazy prices yes, but at least there's some internal consistency. Perhaps the boys at Suzuki Thailand simply took the US price list, doubled the markups, and then called it a good day's work.
