Thread: Motorbike transfer to my name... What documents needed?

I have just bought a motorbike from a friend and need to get the registration transferred over to my name.... What documents do I need from him?

I am guessing that the blue book, signed copies of his passport, work permit, visa?

Does it require a residency certificate from both of us?

^ hmmm, I've bought and sold several dozen vehicles here in Thailand in about a half dozen different provinces and have never needed to supply a passport picture...

Buyer will need a work permit OR a residency letter from Immigration OR a Tabien Baan OR a residency letter from embassy/consulate.

Seller requirements vary from one Land Transport Office to the next, so best to check ahead of time. Also, requirements are different depending on if the seller is Thai national or foreigner. Thai National only needs to show Thai ID card. Foreigner usually must supply signed copy of passport and valid visa. Recently had an issue in CNX where the LT office there wanted a residency letter from the seller. That was odd, never encountered that at any other LT office.

Then again, the silly skirt there told me there was no way to transfer ownership of a trailer because trailers don't have registration books or plates. She was none too happy when I showed her the rego book and road tax receipt for my trailer and told her she had no idea what she was talking about

TiT, vehicle transfers are normally very easy, but always expect the unexpected

Not the Blue Book but the Tabien Baan Leung - Yellow Book, gives the Farang ability to transfer titles, take out contracts in his own name.
