    How tall are you?

As mentioned above if you want a cheap bike look at the Chinese 200/250cc machines that you can pick up new, with warranty for under 50k.

Kawasaki make a KLX 125 and 150 but both are quite small.

There are also the wave type bikes that have been converted to off road bikes that you can pick up for cheap.

    dirt bike aftermarket parts

I have a klingon 250 ( kinlon ) which I would like to put a better headlight on.

where is a good place in Bangkok to buy aftermarket parts like this - universal rubber straps to mount on the forks

Klingon 250 - supposed to be a honda copy

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

^ Saw a booth at the Bangkok Motor Show today that had those generic headlights in a number of different colors and styles, prices from 500 baht.

I bought the headlight below in Surin at a motocy parts shop - 580 baht

no halogen lamps - I will have to see how much of a difference it makes vrs the original supplied headlight on the klingon

the shop is near the surin bus stop - the gps co-ords are on the map jpeg

I installed the bugeyed bits onto the klingon last night - it was not a straight swap , but needed to make some rubber bushing , get longer bolts and drill some more holes in the headlight/indicator mounting plate - nothing major

I only tested it last night against the trees and it did give a fair bit more light - but I will have to wait until I test it out on the road and see how well it picks out cyclists with no lights , dark clothing and no reflective tabs as is the norm on the roads around here

this is unlikely to be tonight either as thunderstorms are predicted

behold the bugeyed klingon in all its glory

last night I was not that impressed with the throw of the headlight , it seemed to leave a dim diamond shape in the middle

but I will have to see how it performs on the road.

another option I have been thinking of is to try a bulb from this headlight and put it in the old headlight casing and see how that performs.

if I could just mount a nice beam round headlight I would - I just want better lighting when traveling these roads at night

I am back to the original headlight - it performs ok when it is not raining and I have angled it slightly higher which allows the beam to look a bit more ahead.

some questions for the dirt bike guru's

is there some sort of fuel gauge I can use on this sort of bike ? ran out of fuel on friday night and would rather not have this issue again - don't seem to have a reserve

and is there a neat fuel breather to use on this sort of cap - as the rubber tube has fallen off and it was always a pain when removing the fuel cap

    My new toy.
A Lifan Cross 200. Priced at 1 oz. of gold. Feels good, sounds like a one cylinder Spitfire. Just got to tame the beast.

^ Good job, now do a few things.
Take it to a bike shop and have the wheel and swingarm bearings replaced.
Buy your self a bottle of locktite and go over all screws and bolts. Adding some spring washers to the ones that hols on the clutch and brake levers is a good idea.
Get a tube of conductive silicon and use it on all the plugs.
Disassemble headlight to get at the wiring package and wrap it properly to prevent water shorts.

    thanks.
I will treat her gently until break her in. My mechanics time is spent keeping Papa's 30 year old Suzuki 50cc bike mobile.

The engine/gearbox of the Lifan looks to be a Honda copy. When comparing the Lifan and Honda 1976 CG125 parts manuals a balancer shaft seems the only addition.
