The Tata Nano at 275,000 baht. You know you want one !

Yes its here and Rickschoppers will be kicking himself. If only he'd waited eh Rick

Came out of the chemist yesterday and I saw one of these driving by. Had to go back in and get some imodium.

Apparently they have now arrived and will retail for about 275,000 baht. This figure I have not confirmed but is mentioned here :

    Tata

which price sounds more likely than the original target range of 80,000 -150,000 when the idea was first proposed in 2009.

For a review of this exciting new thingy :

Tata Nano: The people's car - Telegraph

I would like to like this car but even a cheapskate like myself finds it difficult. The shape is ......well ....... shapeless and those wheels ! Looks like Tata struck a deal with Tonka toys for them. Considering all the potholes and sleeping policemen about you'd think somethink bigger would have been wiser .

Anyway Rick. It's not too late. You can still trade in that secondhand Yaris and buy a new one of these and still have change enough left to debauche and dissipate yourself more than several times over. Tempting isn't it ?

"The car that will be soon launched in Thailand have been modified to suit the condition of weather climate ,and the Thai people driving style."

Does that mean it won't come with any mirrors or indicators?

No , it means the steering wheel will be replaced by handlebars like a tuk tuk and there will be a grab hook on the front to connect to the car in front they are tailgating. This will further improve the mileage per kilometre of the Lao Khao it runs on.

I would not have one if DD bought it for me.

There the cheapest vehicle made in India for the working class. No A/C not sure about the Imports though.

The continuing maintenance would outway any savings in fuel .

Friggin hell, give me an old Yaris or a Tuk Tuk any-day.

The heater will come in handy in April. Then the car can double as an oven.

At the least the windows are heavily tinted, so you wont have the embarrassment of being seen driving one

Even though I did look at the Tata, it was too small and tinny for me. I am not unhappy with the Yaris so far and think it was a good choice for the price.

The car has a maximum speed of 85 kilometres per hours, consumes one litre of gasoline every 22 kilometres.

Be a good little vehicle for kids learning to drive, however I wonder how it will fare in a road accident.

I think you made the right choice too ! Yaris is probably the best small car on the market.

I would use/categorise it as a scooter replacement: safer and better protected than a scooter, but not a "car".

You could always buy a white one and then have it painted any color you want.

Just google for tato nano crash test. Looks ok but still I wouldn't want to get rammed in the side or frontal by a truck.
