Nissan Teana is butt-ugly.

Mitsubishi, or bitsamissin as we call em down under, get the award for making the triton pickup the ugliest vehicle on the road.

The Cube is one of the most popular cars in Japan. It's not the world's most attractive vehicle but it is huge inside and quite nifty to drive.

Other than a study tour of Australia by the Mitsubishi Japan design team and the fact the Triton is not built or assembled in Australia how exactly did Mitsubishi Australia make the ugliest vehicle on the road ?

Ugly yes indeed, but the utility is simply fucking stunning....

Yup, big seller in California as well. My kids went home last summer without the folks. One of their first comments was about that car. Great fuel efficiency and the space of a big old SUV.

The most expensive version is about 650,00 baht in the states, with the bargaining.

I think the Nissan Cube is very artistic and the S-Cargo is also neat for a business as it would get attention. It is 2CV-esque.

agreed betty I was looking for one of those. Plus the Thais are spooked of them as the first 20,000 went in the floods. I mean the March is not pretty, but its functional. That is just cheaply built and butt ugly, in my kids words is fucgly.

that honda brio is a dog. the nissan cube is a practical design and to me it looks good. its a design based on the function of the vehicle.

no point in making a small car attempt to look like a lamborghini.

the small cars here in thailand are all pretty ugly, the offerings from toyota and mitsubishi and mazda are unappealing.

but the suzuki swift looks good as does the larger fiesta and jazz.

for good looks in small cars you have to look at the europeans, and the germans in particular. the new volkswagen up is a masterclass of restrained functional design that looks so right without all the exaggerated curves, flourishes, squiggles and blingy lights that have nothing to do with function, but are a trademark of the asian design schools.

everything has to sell in china these days, and so designs have to cater for their non existent aesthetic sensibilities.

the best small car designs were the 2cv, original mini and original fiat 500, with the morris minor and austin 1100 as worthy runners up.

cheap basic transports that did exactly what they set out to do with little fuss or shouting, at least until they broke down.

TE I agree the new little 1.2 Swift looks like it might just fill the needs of a city car and be cute as well. I like the design they are selling now. The will just put the smaller engine in. Then do their thing.

Mitsu is doing something in this segement, but their marketing department just plains sucks and has for years.

the swift was car of the year in the uk a couple of years ago. i hear they cant keep up with demand for the swift at the moment.

suzuki have always made fine vehicles, deeply unfashionable but fine.

the little caribbean jeep was, and still is one of the toughest and most capable 4x4 you can buy, this side of a land rover/landcruiser.

Mitsubishi Mirage will be a shit ugly eco car.

I was talking about the ugly new 4-door tritons getting around Thailand. Just pointing out that we call them bitsamissin in Australia.
