how many of saddam's lawyers were killed during the trial? how many judges were replaced? most reports indicate that saddam was a scumbag, but this type of 'justice' is counter-productive. | |

| What do you think will be the ramifications on the streets of Baghdad? I'll bet the freedom fighters are getting ready for some fireworks. Wouldn't like to be an invading American puppet right now. |

| ^^well in the eighties he was a good enough guy for the US to supply him with WMD. ![]() it could easily be argued that he was no worse than any other dictator, and that his iron grip on the country kept civil war from breaking out. however, as i posted, most reports indicate he was a scumbag. | It's ironic that we try to hold up our own justice system as a model for the world (with endlesss appeals to ensure a fair trial took place), yet, applaud when a foreign justice system delivers one's head on a plate within 30 days of conviction. In the following breath we condemn the very same justice system when others are quickly punished. A bit ironic, no? |

I doubt there will be an escalation of reprisals or terrorist activity because of this. Ironic is a good way simplify what I've been trying to formulate in my mind. One can only hope those that helped him gain power, supported him then ousted him will receive the same swift justice for their own criminal activities...
