It's a CBS Poll - a noted left-wing, liberal 'news' organization who say ~half of America supports succeeding in Iraq. Get your focus here, boys...

| Boon Mee - you can't post an item, add a link, and then say that your post had nothing to do with the link you added. There's nothing wrong with my eyesight. To call CBS a 'noted left-wing, liberal news organisation' is like calling Bush a Marxist. You can find statistics to support any argument you like, and that was my point.

| Well, he might have had a liberal bias as an anchorman, but does that mean the WHOLE of CBS is left-wing? I don't think so. If you think it is, then you need to spend some time watching European news broadcasts. |

| So, if the figures are not reliable, in your opinion, or at least the ones which refute your point, then why refer to them? Can't find any accurate ones to support your claim? |

| Senior Member | Stunning news Moqtada al Sadr has bolted to Iran, apparently because he fears for his safety as more American troops pour into Baghdad. Sadr reportedly took the top command of his "Mahdi army" with him to Tehran. This probably makes it more difficult to sell the footsoldiers who stayed behind on the desirability of martyrdom. Damn...this surge thing might just work after all!

| Senior Member | Another Lamestream Media Tactic: Headlines That Don't Match The Story. Here's the Associated Press headline , "U.S. general: No evidence Iran is arming Iraquis. Now here's what the General in question, Peter Pace, actually said: " Gen. Pace, Chairman of the JCS, said U.S. forces hunting down militant networks that produced roadside bombs had arrested Iranians and that some of the material used in the devices were made in Iran. "That does not translate that the Iranian govt. per se, for sure, is directly involved in doing this," Pace told reporters in Jakarta. "What it does say is that things made in Iran are being used in Iraq to kill coalition soldiers." So Pace says the Iranians are bringing Iranian made weapons into Iraq that are killing American soldiers. That's a long way from, "No evidence of Iran is arming Iraquis." |

| Can't you read? He states that there is no evidence that Iran, the state, is arming anyone in Iraq. For all you know some private arms dealer from Tehran is selling arms to Iraqis using the 360 tons of cash we shipped over there. It would be like finding Chevy Suburbans in Iran and claiming that the United States is providing transportation for Iran's nuclear research projects. |

Pace is certainly not explicitly denying that the Iranian government is arming the terrorists and contrary to the headline, he actually presented some evidence that they very well might be providing materials used in roadside bombs. Additionally, given his limited comments on the issue, he seems to be leaving open the possibility that being presented with more evidence might change his mind. That's a far cry from what the Associated Press led people to believe with that headline. Last edited by Boon Mee : 14-02-2007 at 09:01 PM.

| i thought the dabate on iraq was over. its a total mess. only the most stringent of supporters are the only ones who think that iraq is a success. those same folk like to think of iran as our next military adventure. i know several folk who either are in iraq now, or have been part of the first wave, and successive waves. their consensus isnt unanimous. people on the first wave into baghdad say it was worth it and they support what we're doing. most folk i know that are part of the securing the peace part- almost overwhelmingly- they say that this we're wasting our time there. and that aint no classified stuff. i dont get any operational detail. sometimes its how they say it and what they chose not to talk about that the most revealing. we need to get out now and prosecute bush for war crimes. |
