Israeli Defense Forces on Monday condemned T-shirts

IDF: Soldiers' anti-Palestinian T-Shirts are 'tasteless' By The Associated Press Tags: israel news

The Israel Defense Forces on Monday condemned T-shirts worn by soldiers that depict scenes of violence against Palestinians as the army faces increasing domestic criticism over its conduct during the recent offensive in the Gaza Strip.

The T-shirts, ordered by troops to mark the end of basic training and other military courses, were worn by a number of enlisted men in different units, Haaretz reported over the weekend. They were not made or sanctioned by the military.

One depicts a child in the cross-hairs of a rifle with the slogan, "The smaller they are, the harder it is," said one of T-shirts. Another
s Advertisement
hows a pregnant woman in the cross-hairs and the words "1 Shot 2 Kills". Others depict a soldier blowing up a mosque and Palestinian women weeping over a gravestone.

The Tel Aviv factory that made many of the shirts, Adiv, refused to comment.

"The shirts are not in accordance with IDF values and are simply tasteless," the army said in a statement. "This type of humor is unbecoming and should be condemned."

The statement said disciplinary action would be taken against troops wearing the T-shirts.

The Israeli military has been facing increased criticism at home for its
conduct in Gaza in the aftermath of published testimony from several
unidentified soldiers released last week.

The soldiers' testimony described troops killing Palestinian civilians,
including children, by hastily opening fire under relaxed rules of engagement. The soldiers also reported the wanton destruction of civilian property.

The three-week Gaza offensive, launched to end years of rocket fire at Israeli towns, ended on January 18. According to Palestinian officials, around 1,400 Palestinians were killed, most of them civilians. Thirteen Israelis died, three of them civilians.

OK, good that the senior management is not happy with the shirts, but how the fuck did the officers allow it in the first place? And what does this say about the Israeli attitude in the first place.

Sounds alright to me, seems it is the muzzies that are trying to do the killing and seems that is the IDF that does part of the dying when the 2 come together,
Who would raise hell if the Muzzies cameup with T shirts depicting some shit the other way?

What the fuck,,just a little black humor, happens in all services, you want preachers in you armed services, then issue bibles instead of guns.

I've been reading some accounts of the deliberate killing of civilians from within the IDF, and it seems there is a divide emerging between Reservists and career soldiers, many of whom are from the Settlers movement or similar Right wing Zionists.

The Reservists do their time, then get back to their real life. Their eyewitness accounts suggest it is the careerists that were by far the worst in terms of deliberately killing non-combatants, and deliberately and wantonly vandalising Palestinian property.

This is war, bad things happen, what is striking more than anything else is the Journalists one sided efforts, if just half their energy was spent on uncovering Hamaz atrocities like forcing women and children to be shields in combat, the random murders without trail of people they suspect of collaborating with Israel aso. the Journalists would not stand out as partners with the terrorists, they have obviously not learnt anything from their groos neglience in the reporting under the recent conflict where they was proven wrong again and again and they ended up like part of the Hamaz propoganda machine.

They probably are just cowards, they have to report from the Gaza area this is a demand from their employers, but they dare not write bad about the terrorists out of fear of being kidnapped.

Looks as this could be your typical run-of-the-mill Moslem bashing, Moslems are bad, Moslems are the boogieman thread. Has possibilities.

I don't know, but who is it that shoots rockets into Israel territory when things die down, and don't seem to make a difference if they land in civilian or military areas.
So whats the difference if it is Israel or Hamas.. At least Israeli wear a uniform and not just a cloth covering the face so that they can not be recognized.

Some can't see the trees for the forest.

BG is correct. If you want good soldiers, you're going to get some of this stuff along.

Are the Hamas fighters model soldiers -- adhering to conventions and cease-fires and policy?

What? They're not really soldiers ... and they don't have policies ... and because they're not organized, we can't criticize them ....

sounds familiar.

Anyone know where I can buy one of those T shirts?
Maybe some IDF guy will trade me a Gitmo keychain and beer condom for a shirt.

it could be argued that this is true of career military in any country.

if you can remember back to high school, what sort of person entered the military instead of going to university? basically it was the guy who (for whatever reason) didn't get good grades, and probably was in trouble with law on a couple of occasions.

and of course i'm not saying that all career military are like this....some joined because they were in dire financial straits and had limited options.

The IDF are scum but I think you'd be hard pressed to find an army that doesn't do this kind of thing. Complain about their war crimes, not their choice of t-shirts.

If all is fair, what's the point of the thread, RS.

It's about T-shirts.

Sorta like namecalling, huh? Pretty harmless in the big scheme of things, eh? Only a twerp would run off to tell others someone else was calling him names, right?

These guys are soldiers. For better or worse, they're doing something. Not cowering in the shadows afraid of being outed and petrified they might be exposed for being a worthless ... I dunno .. TEFLr ... or something.

A lot of people won't be comnfortable with someone so brazenly unashamed -- because they're uncomfortable with themselves.

What would you know about that reach around, you haven't done any time in any military anywhere have you ? The word "incoming" on your avatar refers to emails and paper bullets from your desktop warrior friends.

You are apparently blissfully unaware that most career Officers in many country's are required to do university degrees or other equal education as part of their training, you are also apparently unaware that professional soldiers after having finished their contracts do better than average in the private job sector.

In short you are talking out of your anus.

And by the way keep the reds coming, from you it is like getting a

I'm amazed.
You justify this??
A long time ago I had to apprehend Indon fishers.
Once I had to shred a Foc'sle. I never killed or injured anyone.

Are you proud of this???

no, actually it doesn't. i can't exactly remember why i changed it to that, but i'm pretty sure it was when i had an avatar of that journalist who threw his shoe at bush. but hey, nice try.

on the contrary i am aware of the diploma mills that are on foreign military bases....and i think most people are aware that these 'degrees' don't hold the same weight as those earned in real classrooms on a real campus. and after reading some of your posts, i have to ask.... are you a non-native english speaker, or did you pick up your degree on a military base?

it's no secret that the majority who join the US service are deadbeats or poors or misguided patriot fanatics (see texpat),

Distasteful for those shirts, but since this is the IDF, they are legitimate targets for the Palestinian freedom fighters, and the shirts are nothing but silly propaganda, that only feeble minds can find amusing.

And for the sake of balance, this is equally true of the British army - Prince Harry springs to mind as a perfect example of the first category. And now I think about it, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he had/wore one of these shirts.
