"...the men were suspected of helping Taleban insurgents with weapons and money "

And in other news an arrest warrant has been issued for the US on charges of supplying the Taleban with weapons and money. A spokesman for the US commented 'Oh yeah that's right, ummm oops?'

Regurgitating 'Patriotic' right wing nonsense again booner.

The UN, for all of it's faults, succesfully managed the virtual disarnament of Iraq's military, and destruction of it's WMD's. The military strength of Iraq when the US & UK heroically invaded was estimated at no more than 15% of it's strength before the first Gulf War. The UN oversaw the destruction of far more weaponry than was destroyed during that conflict. Perhaps you should be thanking them.

Would the Coalition of the Villains have been so eager to invade Iraq if this were not the case? Would military casualties have been as low? Then look at your results in terms of your invasion of an effectively disarmed country, compared to the succesful containment of Iraq by the UN. I won't insult your intelligence by repeating the facts again.

The UN does not exist as an instrument for the US our any other nations Foreign policy, and Allah willing it never will. Get used to it. It's name is the United Nations.

As for the OP article, notice it is from the Tehran Times- Shiite Iran is bitterly opposed to the radical Sunni Taliban. Another thing you should internalise rather than repeating simplistic Mantra's- your Islamic 'enemies' are no united front. They are not all Islamic Fundamentalists either. In reality, the Sunni and Shiite worlds are bitterly divided. It is the Sunni radicals that currently pose the biggest threat, and their major source of external funding is your good friend Saudi Arabia.

For all we know at this stage, the article may be politically motivated- I would prefer to wait for further impartial sources to comment further. The puppet Karzai givernment regularly accuses foreign diplomats of treachery or fraternisation for the treasonable crime of, say, meeting with Taliban representatives.

p.s:- don't bother regurgitating that aerial shot of Iraq moving a cache of conventional weapons from an arnaments compound. They were not WMD's. What did you expect them to do- sportingly leave them all assembeled in one place so you could bomb them out of existence as you invaded? Even saddam wasn't that dumb.

^ Apparently I have to spread some repo around before greening you again. Suffice to say that very articulate and considered post deserves one.

The UN has jurisdiction in Afghanistan and the two arrested were "high-ranking foreign officials"?

I seem to recall the US government arming Iraq not so very long ago. It isn't so much "who" you arm, but "when" you arm them.
